You need four ancient debris to craft one netherite ingot. Smelt each block into one netherite scrap, then craft four scraps with four gold ingots. You can also find netherite ingots in bastion remnant loot chests, so crafting is not the only way to get one.
How to craft a netherite ingot
- Mine four ancient debris in the Nether.
- Smelt the debris in a furnace or blast furnace. Each block produces one netherite scrap.
- Craft the ingot by combining four netherite scraps and four gold ingots in a crafting table.
Minecraft’s Java Edition Nether Update instructions document this sequence; the Minecraft Wiki entry on ancient debris also confirms the smelting step.
What else do you need?
Besides the four debris-derived scraps, the recipe requires four gold ingots. The full crafting cost is therefore four ancient debris and four gold ingots for one netherite ingot.
Can you get an ingot without mining four ancient debris?
Yes. Netherite ingots can appear in bastion remnant loot chests, according to Minecraft’s official netherite ingot article. That is an alternative way to acquire an ingot, rather than a different crafting recipe.
