A typical rented Satisfactory server costs about $6 to $25 per month in 2026, depending mainly on player slots. Self-hosting has no software license fee, but you pay for electricity, internet service and hardware. The practical choice is between a predictable monthly bill and the work of maintaining a suitable always-on PC.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Satisfactory servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
2026 Satisfactory server prices at a glance
There is no published market-wide average price for Satisfactory servers. Current provider examples put ordinary group hosting in the $6–$25 monthly range, while the largest cited plan is $20.99 per month for 16 players. These are advertised prices from 2026 pages, not a guaranteed quote: hosts can change rates, limit features or charge different amounts by billing cycle and region.

| Gravel Host Fuel Generator | Not stated as a slot limit; 10 GB RAM | $9.99/month | 2026 advertised tier |
Slot counts are not directly comparable with RAM-based plans. A host that advertises six, eight or ten gigabytes does not automatically provide the same save-game performance as a plan advertising a player limit. Ask what resources are guaranteed, whether CPU time is shared, and whether backups or support cost extra.
What does a rented server cost per month?
Small groups of up to five players
For a private group of up to five, the cited $7.99 Supercraft tier is a useful benchmark. The $5.99 Gravel Host plan is cheaper, but its listing specifies memory rather than a player cap, so you must confirm the practical player limit and save-size policy before treating it as an equivalent offer.

Groups of six to 16 players
Expect roughly $8–$21 per month in the examples available. Supercraft lists $12.99 for up to 10 players, while Indifferent Broccoli lists $20.99 for 16. Larger factories, extensive automation and frequent autosaves can make memory and CPU allocation more important than the headline slot count.
Large groups up to 30 players
The cited $24.99 Supercraft tier supports up to 30 players. “Up to” is a capacity ceiling, not a performance promise for every world. A mature save with many machines may need more resources than a new map with the same number of connected players.
Can annual billing lower the price?
Supercraft lists a 12-month Plan S total of $75 and describes it as 22% off. That works out to $6.25 per month when the full year is paid in advance, compared with the listed $7.99 monthly rate. Treat the saving as a provider-specific promotion or billing option, not a universal annual price. Check renewal terms, refund rules and whether the discount applies only to the first year.

What does self-hosting cost?
Satisfactory dedicated-server software is free to install through Steam. A self-hosted setup therefore has no server-software subscription, but it is not free in practice unless you already own suitable hardware and an internet connection. Your costs are electricity, hardware replacement, cooling, broadband and your time.
Electricity example
A sample calculation for a PC drawing about 65 watts continuously is 0.065 kilowatts × 24 hours × 30 days, or approximately 47 kilowatt-hours per month. At $0.15 per kilowatt-hour, that is about $7 monthly. This is an author’s arithmetic example, not a measured Satisfactory server result. Your machine’s real draw, local tariff, seasonal cooling and idle behavior can change the total substantially.
Hardware and internet costs
If you already have a PC that remains powered on, the marginal cost may be close to electricity and any extra data charges. Buying a dedicated machine can cost far more than a year of entry-level rental, although it may also run other services. A self-hosted server needs an internet connection that permits inbound connections, a router you can configure, and a stable local network address or a way to keep the forwarding rule updated.

Dedicated-server hardware requirements
Published guidance conflicts, especially on memory and storage. The figures below show what each source says and the conservative planning choice for 2026.
| Component | Reported guidance | Practical planning choice |
|---|---|---|
| RAM | The Fandom dedicated-server page is reported to list 12 GB minimum and 16 GB recommended for larger saves or more than four players. IONOS lists 8 GB for one to four players and 16 GB or more for larger saves or more than four players. | Plan for at least 12 GB, and 16 GB if the world is large or more than four people will play. The official Coffee Stain minimum was not confirmed in the available material. |
| Storage | The wiki is reported to give 25 GB; Liquid Web recommends at least 50 GB free. | Reserve at least 50 GB free so the installation, saves, logs, updates and backups have room. |
| Drive | Guide advice favors an SSD because autosaves can stall busy worlds on slow disks. | Use an SSD rather than a mechanical hard drive when possible. |
| CPU | A recent x86-64 processor comparable to an Intel i5-3570 or Ryzen 5 3600 is reportedly recommended, with emphasis on single-core performance. | Choose a modern x86-64 CPU with strong single-thread performance. ARM and 32-bit systems are not supported. |
| Operating system | A currently supported Windows release or major Linux distribution; Windows 7 is not supported. | Keep the operating system patched and use a supported 64-bit edition. |
The memory discrepancy matters because a machine that starts the process may still struggle as the save grows. Monitor RAM use, CPU saturation, disk latency and save times rather than relying only on whether the server launches. Because the official minimum could not be verified here, check Coffee Stain’s current documentation before purchasing hardware.
Which network ports are required?
Port guidance is also inconsistent. The Fandom page states that the default port is 7777 and that both TCP and UDP are used. A 2026 guide reports TCP and UDP 7777 plus TCP 8888, while Liquid Web still lists UDP 7777, 15777 and 15000. Older guides commonly mention 15000 and 15777, so copying a two- or three-year-old firewall recipe can expose unnecessary ports or leave the server unreachable.

Use the current official documentation as the authority for your game build and verify every rule against your server log. Do not open all conflicting ports automatically. If your setup requires custom values, the wiki guidance relayed in the available material identifies -Port= and -ReliablePort= launch parameters. Change one variable at a time and document the external and internal port numbers.

How to host a Satisfactory server yourself
- Check the host machine. Use a supported 64-bit Windows or major Linux installation, an x86-64 CPU, an SSD and at least 12 GB of RAM; use 16 GB for larger saves or more than four players.
- Install the dedicated-server software. Install it through Steam, then let the first launch create its configuration and save directories. Keep the Steam installation and server files on the SSD.
- Prepare a fixed local address. Give the machine a DHCP reservation or static address so router forwarding does not break after a reboot.
- Configure the firewall. Allow the port and protocol combination required by the current official documentation. The commonly reported default is 7777 on TCP and UDP; treat 8888, 15000 and 15777 as version- or guide-dependent until verified.
- Forward ports on the router. Forward the verified external ports to the server’s fixed local address. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary forwarding may not work; request a public address or use a supported alternative.
- Start the server and watch the logs. Confirm that the process binds to the expected ports, completes world loading and creates a save. A successful launch without a reachable port usually indicates firewall, forwarding or NAT trouble.
- Connect locally first. Join from the same network, load the intended save and test progression, autosaves and permissions before inviting players from outside.
- Test externally. Have a player on another connection join. Do not assume that a local connection proves internet accessibility.
- Schedule maintenance. Back up saves, apply game and operating-system updates during a planned window, and restart the service periodically if monitoring shows memory growth or degraded save times.
Renting versus self-hosting
| Consideration | Renting | Self-hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Up-front cost | Usually none beyond the first billing period. | Requires an existing or purchased PC, storage and networking equipment. |
| Recurring cost | About $6–$25 per month in the cited 2026 examples. | Electricity and internet; a 65-watt example is about $7 per month at $0.15/kWh. |
| Network setup | Usually no port forwarding for you. | You must configure firewall, router and possibly public addressing. |
| Uptime | Provider manages the data-center connection, subject to its terms. | Your PC, power, router and broadband must stay online. |
| Control | Convenient control panel but provider limits apply. | Full control of files, settings, updates and backups. |
| Scaling | Upgrade or downgrade to a different plan. | Add RAM, storage or a stronger machine yourself. |
| Time commitment | Lower; support may handle basic incidents. | Higher; you own troubleshooting, patching and recovery. |
Rent when predictability is worth more than control
Choose a rental in the $6–$25 range if you want a fixed bill, do not want to expose a home network, cannot keep a PC running continuously, or need friends to connect without your being online to start the server. Before paying, confirm backup frequency, restore access, CPU and RAM guarantees, region, mod support, cancellation terms and whether taxes are included.
Self-host when you already have suitable infrastructure
Self-hosting makes sense when a spare PC or small server is already available, the machine meets the conservative memory target, your router allows forwarding and someone in the group can handle updates and backups. It is less attractive if buying new hardware solely for Satisfactory costs more than several years of rental.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Common cost traps and troubleshooting
- Comparing slots with RAM as if they were identical. Confirm both the player cap and guaranteed memory. A low price with unspecified slots may not serve a 10-player group.
- Ignoring save growth. A new world can run comfortably and later suffer long autosaves. Leave at least 50 GB free and use an SSD.
- Using obsolete port lists. Verify the current game version’s requirements before opening 15000, 15777 or 8888. Close rules that are not required.
- Forgetting annual-renewal terms. A discounted first year can renew at a different rate. Record the renewal date and monthly equivalent.
- Assuming a local connection proves remote access. Test from a different internet connection; carrier-grade NAT and double NAT commonly block inbound traffic.
- Underestimating power draw. The 65-watt example excludes monitor use, peak load, cooling and hardware aging. Measure your system at the wall for a realistic budget.
- No independent backups. Provider snapshots and local saves can fail together. Keep dated copies on separate storage and test restoring one.
- Running unsupported software. Windows 7, ARM and 32-bit systems are outside the reported support guidance. Upgrade before diagnosing game-specific problems.
A practical 2026 budget
For a five-player group, budget about $8 per month on the cited Supercraft monthly tier, or $75 prepaid for a 12-month Plan S term if that offer remains available. For a 10-player group, the cited benchmark is $12.99 monthly. For up to 30 players, the cited benchmark is $24.99 monthly. A memory-priced entry plan can begin at $5.99, but verify capacity and resource guarantees first.
For self-hosting, start with the cost of hardware you already own, then add measured electricity and any broadband charges. Using the illustrative 65-watt, $0.15/kWh assumptions gives roughly $7 per month in electricity, but it should not be presented as a universal operating cost.
Bottom line
In 2026, renting is usually a $6–$25 monthly decision for a small to large private group. Self-hosting removes the software fee and can cost only a few dollars in power when suitable hardware is already on hand, but it demands at least 12 GB of planned RAM, preferably 16 GB for larger worlds, an SSD, a supported x86-64 system and reliable network administration. Pick the option that matches whether your priority is predictable convenience or maximum control.
