In a promotion reported on April 20, 2025, GameStop offered up to $175 for a Switch OLED, $125 for a standard Switch, and $100 for a Switch Lite toward a Nintendo Switch 2 preorder. Those are historical promotion figures, not prices readers can assume are redeemable today. The offer was reported to begin April 24, 2025.
GameStop’s reported 2025 Switch trade-in values
Tom’s Guide reported the following model-specific GameStop credit amounts for the 2025 Switch 2 preorder promotion:

The figures and April 24 start date were reported by Tom’s Guide on April 20, 2025. The report also said GameStop Pro members would receive an extra 10% on standard Switch trade-in credit. That was a condition of the reported 2025 promotion; it does not establish a current Pro benefit or current trade value. Tom’s Guide’s April 20, 2025 report.
Are those trade-in prices still available?
There is no basis to treat the 2025 figures as an offer available now. A GameStop standard Switch trade page displayed a quote generated October 2, 2026: up to $60 in regular store credit or $42 cash, and up to $66 in Pro store credit or $46.20 cash. That quote expired at the end of October 2, so it is only a dated example—not an October 8 offer or a guaranteed amount. For a current value, request a fresh quote for your exact console and check the participating store before making the trip. The amount can depend on the device’s condition and required components, and GameStop limits trades to select products and stores in the United States and Guam. GameStop trade values and terms.
What the trade credit means for a Switch 2 upgrade
Nintendo’s U.S. Switch 2 MSRP increased from $449.99 to $499.99 effective September 1, 2026; Nintendo says U.S. prices exclude tax. That is purchase-price context, not a trade-in quote. A reader estimating an upgrade cost should use the current Switch 2 price and a fresh, model-specific GameStop quote rather than subtracting the expired 2025 promotion. Before taking a Switch to GameStop
GameStop says, “Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value.” Its trade page also says full value requires necessary components and that trades are subject to manager approval. GameStop trade instructions.
- Check the current quote and confirm that your local store accepts the product and trade.
- Bring the console and related cords and chargers; charge the device before visiting.
- Delete personal or sensitive data and remove memory cards or items that were not originally part of the product.
- Review the offer at the store before completing it. GameStop says completed trades are final.
