How much did Black Ops III make in its first three days?
Activision announced that the game brought in over $550 million worldwide in its opening three days after its November 6, 2015 release. The company’s figure covered retail and digital sell-through, including the Season Pass. Activision’s launch announcement
In other words, the figure describes sales to customers during the opening period. It does not mean Activision kept $550 million: the announcement does not provide a breakdown of publisher receipts, costs, or profit.
Is $550 million Black Ops III’s lifetime total?
No. The $550 million figure is for the first three days, not the game’s entire commercial life. The primary sources cited here do not establish a definitive lifetime revenue total or lifetime unit-sales count for Black Ops III.

Its 2015 Form 10-K more specifically identified it as the number-one best-selling console game globally that year, based on data from The NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track, and Activision Blizzard internal estimates. What the sales figure does—and doesn’t—tell us
- It is an opening-period sales figure: over $550 million worldwide across the first three days, as reported by Activision.
- It includes more than base-game copies: Activision said its sell-through definition included the Season Pass.
- It is not profit or publisher net revenue: the announcement does not say how much Activision retained after retail, platform, development, marketing, or other costs.
- It is not a confirmed lifetime total: a 2015 sales ranking is not a cumulative revenue or unit-sales disclosure.
Does the Call of Duty franchise sales figure apply to Black Ops III?
