Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is an optional Chapter 1 frog boss in the Bamboo Grove–Snake Trail area. From the Snake Trail shrine, follow the route toward the river and into the swamp. In the fight, watch for the frog to compress its body, dodge its leap or dive, then attack during its recovery.
Where to find Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
- Start at the Snake Trail shrine in Bamboo Grove and head toward the bridge.
- Descend toward the river and follow the water into the swamp, where the boss waits.
Use the shrine, river, and swamp as landmarks: route descriptions vary on which direction to take, so a left-or-right instruction may not match your approach. Clear nearby enemies and restore health before dropping into the arena; the boss can notice and attack you as you approach.

How to beat Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
Read the body-compression tell
Keep the frog in front of the camera so you can see its movement. When it crouches or compresses its body, stop attacking and prepare to dodge. This is the warning before a leap or dive.
Dodge first, punish after recovery
Let the leap, dive, or head attack finish, then take a short attack window and reset your position. Do not keep swinging as the frog coils for its next move. Staying behind it is not a reliable safe strategy: its hind-leg attacks can catch players who linger there.

Use abilities only when you can follow through
Ordinary dodge timing is a sufficient baseline. Red Tides or Immobilize can help if you are close enough to turn the opening into damage immediately; using them without a follow-up opportunity risks wasting the opening. Pillar Stance is optional if you have already unlocked it.
What Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang drops
The notable reward is the boss’s Spirit. Its listed move is a tongue whip at range, and its equipped effect moderately reduces stamina costs for jumps and jump attacks. Those are reference-page descriptions, not a reason every build should equip it.
