Roblox says the median creator in its Developer Exchange (DevEx) program received $1,550 USD during the 12 months ended December 31, 2025. That is the clearest current benchmark, but it is not a salary estimate for every Roblox game developer: it covers DevEx participants, a subset of the millions of creators monetizing on the platform. Roblox also reports that its top 1,000 creators averaged $1.3 million in 2025—a figure for a small, top-earning group, not a typical outcome.
What the Roblox earnings figures actually measure
Roblox’s monetization page says more than 35,000 creators were part of DevEx and reports a median of $1,550 USD received during the twelve months ended December 31, 2025. The median is the midpoint: half of the creators in that group received more and half received less. It is not the average earnings of every person who has published a Roblox experience, nor does it say what a particular game or developer role pays. Roblox’s creator monetization overview provides the platform’s figures.
The other headline number needs a different interpretation. Roblox says its top 1,000 creators earned an average of $1.3 million in 2025. This is an average for a selected top-earning group; it should not be used as a prediction for an ordinary creator or compared directly with the median DevEx figure as though both described the same population.
How Roblox creators earn money
Roblox creators can earn through player spending in experiences, Creator Rewards, in-game ads, and Creator Store transactions. Roblox says creators generally earn 70% of Robux spent in their game. That describes Robux earnings, not a guaranteed share of cash paid out to the creator: cash conversion is handled separately through DevEx and its qualifying-balance and eligibility rules. Creator Rewards example
Under a qualifying Creator Rewards example, Roblox says a creator can receive 5 Robux when an Active Spender plays an experience for at least 10 minutes. “Active Spender” is defined by Roblox using recent platform spending criteria; the reward is Robux, not an immediate cash payment. Any cash conversion remains subject to DevEx rules. See Roblox’s Creator Rewards documentation.
How much Robux converts to cash?
Roblox’s standard DevEx rate is $0.0038 per Earned Robux: 30,000 Earned Robux converts to $114 USD at that rate. This is the current standard rate in Roblox’s DevEx documentation, not a promise that every Robux balance qualifies. Roblox also says balances earned before September 5, 2025 at 10 a.m. PT remain subject to the earlier $0.0035 rate. The DevEx documentation explains the applicable rates and qualifying earnings.

A higher rate of $0.0054 per Earned Robux applies only to certain qualifying earnings from developer products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers purchased by verified U.S. players aged 18 or older in eligible games. It is not a general rate for all developers, games, purchases, or Robux balances. Roblox details the conditions in its U.S. 18+ exchange-rate documentation.
Who can cash out through DevEx?
Roblox says creators must be at least 13 and have a minimum of 30,000 Earned Robux to use DevEx. Meeting those thresholds does not guarantee a payout: Roblox reviews requests, and eligibility, account circumstances, compliance, and the source and age of the Robux can affect whether earnings qualify. The DevEx Dashboard estimate is not a guarantee that the displayed balance will be approved for cash-out. Check the current DevEx requirements and review rules before relying on a projected payout.

Can you estimate a developer’s salary from these figures?
No. Roblox’s published figures do not provide typical earnings by hours worked, team size, individual role, or individual game. They also do not establish what a specific game will earn through purchases, rewards, ads, or Creator Store sales. A developer’s Robux earnings and cash-out eligibility depend on the actual sources and dates of earnings, while the $1,550 median describes DevEx creators as a group over a defined 12-month period—not a recurring monthly wage.
