Electronic Arts said in 2003 that Madden had generated more than $1 billion in U.S. sales over its lifetime. That is the clearest public cumulative figure located, but it is a historical, U.S.-only sales milestone—not a current worldwide total, a measure of profit, or a figure EA has updated through 2026. EA’s more recent financial reports discuss Madden among several revenue drivers without publishing a complete Madden-only lifetime total.
What is the clearest public lifetime figure?
In an October 22, 2003 earnings-call transcript, EA said: “Over its lifetime, Madden sales have comfortably exceeded $1 billion in the U.S.” Source: EA earnings-call transcript.
The statement establishes that Madden’s U.S. sales had passed $1 billion by that date. EA did not define “sales” in the quoted statement as consumer spending, publisher-recognized revenue, or another accounting measure. It also does not establish how much Madden has made worldwide since 2003.
Why recent EA results do not provide a new Madden total
FY2024: record bookings, no dollar amount
EA reported that the Madden NFL franchise delivered record net bookings in FY2024, up 6% year over year. The company also reported double-digit growth in weekly average users for Madden NFL 24 and Madden Mobile. The results indicate growth, but EA did not disclose the franchise’s net bookings in dollars. EA’s FY2024 results.

FY2026: a portfolio figure, not Madden’s share
EA’s FY2026 Form 10-K reported $2.148 billion in full-game net revenue across its portfolio. It named Madden NFL 26 alongside EA SPORTS FC 26, Battlefield 6, and EA SPORTS FC 25 as products that primarily drove that revenue. The $2.148 billion belongs to EA’s portfolio total; the filing does not identify Madden NFL 26’s portion. It also cites decreased sales of Madden Ultimate Team extra content as one contributor to a change in live-services revenue, without giving a Madden-only amount. “Made” can mean different things
A money figure needs a metric and a scope. Consumer spending, EA-recognized net revenue, net bookings, and profit are not interchangeable. Nor are sales of one annual game the same as the entire franchise across console, PC, mobile, and ongoing services.

EA says its net revenue includes full-game sales, live services, subscriptions, and licensing. Full-game revenue covers digital downloads and packaged goods; live-services and other revenue includes extra content, certain licensing, subscriptions, and advertising. A copy-sales estimate would therefore miss some forms of monetization, while EA’s portfolio-wide categories cannot be assigned to Madden without title-level figures. EA’s FY2026 Form 10-K.
