Creating or publishing a Roblox game does not automatically pay you Robux. You can earn Robux through qualifying sales, subscriptions, engagement rewards, and other programs, but the amount depends on player activity, purchases, and Roblox’s rules. There is no guaranteed payout or established typical amount for a new game.
For a concrete conversion example, Roblox’s standard DevEx rate is $0.0038 per eligible Earned Robux: 30,000 Earned Robux converts to $114 USD before individual tax or other considerations. That is a cash-out conversion, not a prediction of what a game will earn.
Does Roblox pay you just for making a game?
No automatic creation or publishing payment is stated in Roblox’s monetization documentation. A game—called an “experience” in Roblox documentation—can earn Robux when it meets the conditions for a monetization program, but simply making one does not guarantee Robux. Earnings can be zero, and the available information does not establish a typical payout for a new experience.
Roblox reports portfolio-level creator earnings, but those figures are not a forecast for an individual game. For example, Roblox says more than 35,000 DevEx participants received a median creator receipt of $1,550 during the 12 months ended December 31, 2025; its reported average for the top 1,000 creators was $1.3 million in 2025. Neither figure tells you what a new experience should expect to earn. Roblox’s creator-income overview provides the context for those platform-wide numbers.

How can a Roblox game earn Robux?
Different earning routes have different rules. A stated percentage or reward for one route should not be treated as the rate for every kind of income.
Passes and developer products
A pass is a one-time purchase, while a developer product can be purchased repeatedly. Roblox says creators receive 70% of the Robux spent on their own in-game passes; do not extend that figure to every monetization route or assume it applies outside the applicable rules. The game monetization documentation explains passes and products, and Roblox’s monetization overview describes the broader ways to earn.

Creator Rewards for qualifying engagement
Some engagement can earn Robux even when a player does not make a purchase. Roblox describes a daily engagement award of 5 Robux when a qualifying Active Spender plays an eligible experience for at least 10 minutes, subject to program conditions and daily ordering limits. It is not 5 Robux for every player, visit, or session. Creator Rewards also has an audience expansion award with separate eligibility rules. Roblox says Creator Rewards awards have a 60-day holding period; audience expansion has additional requirements, including an ID-verified account in good standing and a valid DevEx account. See the Creator Rewards rules.
Subscriptions
Creators can offer recurring benefits for a monthly subscription fee. Roblox documents local-currency subscription payments and a 30-day hold before associated Robux is added to the creator’s balance after delivery of the full term. Read the subscription documentation for the program’s terms.

Paid access
A creator can charge a one-time Robux fee to enter an experience. Roblox documents a price range of 25–1,000 Robux, subject to account and verification conditions, and warns that charging for access can reduce the number of users who join. Details are in the paid-access rules.
Ads, Creator Store sales, and transfers
Roblox describes revenue sharing from engagement with immersive ad formats, but the cited documentation does not establish a universal payout per view. Creator Store sales and avatar-item sales are separate creator-economy routes, not payment for ordinary game visits; Roblox says Creator Store real-world pricing returns 100% of net proceeds, while avatar and marketplace rules vary by where an item is sold.

In eligible experiences that support Robux transfers, Roblox says the game earns 10% of a transfer and the recipient receives 90%. Transfers are between eligible Roblox Plus subscribers, and each transaction must be between 10 and 500 Robux. See the transfer documentation and Roblox Plus rules.

Roblox’s standard DevEx exchange rate is $0.0038 per eligible Earned Robux. At that rate, 30,000 Earned Robux—the minimum cash-out request—equals $114 USD. The rate converts qualifying earnings; it does not mean Roblox pays that amount for creating a game. Roblox’s DevEx documentation says the dashboard figure is an estimate and does not guarantee that the full balance qualifies for payout.

A limited enhanced rate of $0.0054 per Earned Robux may apply to certain eligible purchases by U.S. players verified as at least 18, in qualifying experiences. The listed eligible purchase types include developer products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers. It is not a general rate for all creators or all Robux; consult the U.S. 18+ exchange-rate terms.
What counts as Earned Robux—and what does not?
DevEx applies to eligible Earned Robux, not necessarily everything shown in a Robux balance. Roblox excludes directly purchased Robux, subscription grants, gifts, and several other sources from Earned Robux, and retains discretion over eligibility. The amount shown in the dashboard is an estimate, so a balance alone does not establish how much can be cashed out.
What do you need to cash out through DevEx?
Roblox’s stated DevEx requirements include all of the following:
- You are at least 13 years old.
- You have at least 30,000 Earned Robux.
- Your Roblox account has a verified email address.
- You have a valid DevEx portal account and submit required tax forms.
- Your account remains compliant with Roblox’s terms and program requirements.
Roblox also notes that Earned Robux accumulated before September 5, 2025 at 10 a.m. Pacific uses the former $0.0035 rate until those older balances have been cashed out. That legacy rate applies to those older balances, not as the standard rate for newer earnings.

There is no dependable fixed amount to apply to a game before you know its qualifying audience and activity. To make a realistic estimate, identify which monetization methods your experience actually uses, then track their eligible results separately:
Quick Recap
- Choose the earning routes. Decide whether you will offer passes, repeat-purchase developer products, subscriptions, paid access, or qualifying engagement features. Each route has different conditions.
- Measure real player behavior. Track eligible purchases and qualifying engagement rather than multiplying total visits by a supposed universal rate.
- Separate Robux earned from Robux eligible for DevEx. Apply Roblox’s eligibility rules before using the exchange rate, and treat the dashboard amount as an estimate.
- Check current terms before relying on a rate. Roblox’s monetization programs and DevEx eligibility are governed by their current documentation, and program-specific conditions can change.
