The New York Times Strands puzzle for Saturday, March 1, 2025, was #363, not #362. Its theme was “Let Us Prey,” and its spangram was APEX PREDATORS. If you meant puzzle #362, that was the February 28 game, themed “Nautical ink.”
A hint before the answers
Think of animals at the top of the food chain. The theme words include creatures from both the present and the distant past.
March 1 Strands answers
The five theme words for puzzle #363 were:
- HUMAN
- CROCODILE
- LION
- ORCA
- TYRANNOSAURUS
The spangram was APEX PREDATORS. It describes the theme and stretches between opposite sides of the board. Parade writes it without a space as “APEXPREDATORS”; TechRadar separates the words. Parade’s March 1 guide and TechRadar’s game #363 guide give the same answer set.
Why the date and puzzle number differ
The title’s date points to #363: both contemporaneous guides identify the March 1, 2025 puzzle as game #363. Puzzle #362 was played on February 28, with the theme “Nautical ink.” Its answers were EAGLE, SHIP, SWALLOW, ANCHOR, MERMAID, and COMPASS; the spangram was SAILOR TATTOO. These are separate puzzles, so the #363 answers above are not the solution to #362.

How Strands hints work
Theme words fill the board without overlapping. The spangram describes the theme, touches two opposite sides of the board, and can contain more than one word. Finding three non-theme words earns a hint that reveals letters in a theme word.
