What EA’s storage figures mean
EA’s current The Sims 4 system requirements, accessed October 8, 2026, specify free disk space rather than a measured all-DLC installation size. The recommended figure is 50 GB for PC and Mac, with at least 1 GB additional for custom content and saved games. For Mac, EA also lists 25 GB as the minimum; it is not the recommended amount.
So 50 GB is a useful baseline when planning whether to install or update the game, but it should not be read as a guarantee that a particular installation—including every expansion, game pack, stuff pack, kit, and user file—will occupy exactly 50 GB. The space used can vary with the platform, installed content, updates, and files such as saves and custom content.

EA’s The Sims 4 FAQ says PC and Mac content is associated with the same EA account, while purchases do not transfer when moving to console platforms. That is a purchase-transfer distinction, not a statement that console and computer catalogs or installation sizes are identical.

EA announced an in-game Marketplace for downloadable content, with a PC/Mac launch on March 17, 2026 and a subsequent console rollout. Its announcement concerns how content is made available; it does not provide a combined download or installed-size figure. Catalog availability can also change, so “all DLC” depends on platform and what content is available and selected there.
How to find the size on your own device
- On PC or Mac: use the EA app’s game or download listing to check the storage information available for your installation or selected downloads. After installation, check the game’s storage listing in your operating system to see the space it currently occupies.
- On PlayStation or Xbox: open the console’s storage-management area and view the game’s installed size. Add-ons may be listed separately, so include the relevant installed content when estimating the total.
- Allow room beyond the displayed game size: account for updates, saved games, and—on PC or Mac—custom content. EA’s 1 GB additional recommendation covers custom content and saves as a planning allowance.
The device’s storage report is the best way to get an exact figure for your own installation at that moment. It will reflect your platform, installed packs, updates, and user files rather than an assumed universal all-DLC total.

How much free space should you set aside?
For PC or Mac, use EA’s recommended 50 GB free-space figure as the baseline and keep at least 1 GB additional for custom content and saves. If you are installing many packs or expect to add user files, leave more headroom: the official recommendation is not a promise that the complete, updated installation will fit within a fixed total. On console, consult the storage display for the base game and the add-ons you plan to install; the cited EA requirements do not specify a console-wide all-DLC total.
