At launch, Activision listed 95 GB free for PS4, 133 GB for PS5, 93 GB for Xbox One, and 136 GB for Xbox Series X|S. On PC, its launch figures were 35 GB for multiplayer only, 82 GB for the full game at standard settings, and 125 GB for the full game on Ultra RTX. These are historical free-space requirements, not guaranteed measurements of the game’s current installed size.
Official launch-era storage requirements by platform
Activision’s November 2020 installation guide gave these console figures. They indicate free space to have available for installation at launch, not the final size of every current installation.
| Platform or installation | Free space listed at launch | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 4 | 95 GB | Activision, November 12, 2020 |
| PlayStation 5 | 133 GB | Activision, November 12, 2020 |
| Xbox One | 93 GB | Activision, November 12, 2020 |
| Xbox Series X|S | 136 GB | Activision, November 12, 2020 |
| PC, multiplayer only | 35 GB | Activision PC requirements, August 5, 2021 |
| PC, full game at standard settings | 82 GB | Activision PC requirements, August 5, 2021 |
| PC, full game on Ultra RTX | 125 GB | Activision PC requirements, August 5, 2021; includes the optional high-definition asset pack |
Steam’s listing showed a separate 175 GB available-space requirement when accessed October 8, 2026. This is a store-listed requirement, not a measured current installed size, and it should not be conflated with Activision’s launch-era figures. Steam listing
Why the installed size can differ
Installed modes and content packs
Cold War does not have to remain installed as one fixed bundle. Activision says console players can uninstall specific game mode packs to reduce the overall file size. On PC, players can select mode packs, including Campaign or Zombies, to reduce the installation. The amount saved by removing a particular pack is not stated in the cited guidance.

PC graphics assets
The PC figures distinguish multiplayer-only, standard full-game, and Ultra RTX configurations. The 125 GB Ultra RTX requirement includes the optional high-definition asset pack; it is not the standard full-game figure.
Updates and version changes
Activision warns that “Additional storage space may be required for mandatory game updates.” Its cited guidance does not provide a dependable current update-space allowance. Platform, installed packs, and updates can therefore affect the space needed or occupied over time.

Free space required is not the same as download or installed size
The figures above describe launch-era free-space requirements. They do not establish a universal download size or a single present-day installed footprint for all platforms and configurations. A download can differ from the space required to install it, and optional packs or later updates can change what is installed.
For the exact current amount on your system, check the game’s details in the platform’s installed-game or storage-management screen. That is more useful than applying a launch figure from another platform or configuration.

How to choose the relevant figure
- Console: Use the launch figure for your exact system—PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S—as a historical reference, then check the console’s current storage display.
- PC: Use 35 GB for the launch multiplayer-only configuration, 82 GB for the standard full game, or 125 GB for Ultra RTX with the optional HD asset pack. Leave room beyond these historical figures for updates.
- Reducing the footprint: Review installed mode packs and remove modes you do not use, where the platform allows it.
