If you mean how long the account must have existed, Roblox does not publish a minimum waiting period before buying Robux. If you mean the account holder’s age, Roblox’s rules distinguish the minimum age to create an account from the rules for financial transactions and parental involvement.
Roblox does not set a minimum account tenure for buying Robux
Roblox’s published guidance gives an age minimum for creating an account, but does not state that an account must be a certain number of days, weeks, or months old before it can buy Robux. That is different from the account holder’s age, which is addressed by Roblox’s account and transaction rules.
Three age rules that are easy to confuse
| Rule | What Roblox says | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Creating an account | Users must be at least 5 years old to create a Roblox account. Roblox Support: “How do I change my age?” | This is an account-creation minimum, not permission for a child to make purchases independently. |
| Accounts for minors | Roblox’s Terms say users under 18 must create an account together with a parent or legal guardian. Roblox Terms of Use | A parent or guardian must be involved in a minor’s account setup under the Terms. |
| Financial transactions | The Terms say that only users who have reached the age of majority where they live may engage in financial transactions on Roblox’s Services. Roblox Terms of Use | The applicable age depends on the user’s jurisdiction; the five-year account-creation minimum does not override this rule. |
Can a parent add Robux to a child’s account?
Yes. Roblox says a parent with a linked account can see a child’s Robux balance and add Robux to the child’s account. Roblox’s Parental Controls FAQ states: “All linked children: You can view their Robux balance and add Robux to their account.” Roblox Parental Controls FAQ
Parent privileges generally require an age-checked adult who is 18 or older in most regions. Roblox notes that regional rules can vary, so availability and purchase flows may differ by location and account setup. The FAQ also says parents can manage spending limits for children under 13, while some settings change for teens aged 13 and older.

What to do if the birthday on the account is wrong
Use the correct date of birth rather than changing it to get around a purchase restriction. Roblox says a parent can correct a child’s birthday through a linked account, but the date can only be updated once. Restrictions may apply if the child’s age has already been verified with government ID. See Roblox’s age-change guidance for the applicable process.

Can a 10-year-old buy Robux without a parent?
Roblox’s Terms say financial transactions on its Services are for users who have reached the age of majority where they live. A parent with a linked account can add Robux to a child’s account; the five-year account-creation minimum is not independent purchase authorization.
