When did the first Forza Motorsport come out?
The original Forza Motorsport launched for the original Xbox on May 3, 2005, according to Turn 10 Studios’ 20th-anniversary retrospective. “Forza Motorsport 1” is a common way to distinguish that game from later entries; its official title was Forza Motorsport.

Is Forza Motorsport 1 the same as Forza Motorsport (2023)?
No. The original game is Forza Motorsport (2005) for the original Xbox; Forza Motorsport (2023) is a separate later entry. Turn 10 identifies them separately in its series retrospective. The studio’s 2025 account says the original included over 230 cars, 17 track locations with 35 layouts, and a Career mode with five racing series; those are the figures reported by Turn 10, not an independently audited count.
