What personality affects
Bandai Namco says personality influences stat growth, skill acquisition and Digivolution conditions. It is one part of a Digimon’s build, alongside factors such as equipment, attachment skills, DigiFarm training and Agent Skills.

The official example is Daring: Lead Producer Ryosuke Hara says a Digimon with this personality gains more Attack and Defense as it levels, making it better suited to physical offense. That example illustrates the mechanic, but it does not establish a universal two-stat formula for every personality. Read Hara’s June 25, 2025 explanation on PlayStation.Blog.
How to change a Digimon’s personality
A Digimon’s personality is initially determined when it is converted. It can shift later through conversations and special training items at the DigiFarm. Bandai Namco Europe describes conversation-driven changes as gradual; the official explanations do not give exact thresholds, item names or a formula for the size of each stat change.

Use these methods when you want to adjust a Digimon’s build or meet a personality condition for a specific evolution. The available official information does not establish a precise cost or availability schedule for changing personality.
Choosing a personality for an evolution
Some Digivolutions require a particular personality, but that does not mean every evolution has such a condition. Check the requirements for the form you want, then adjust personality if necessary. The requirement is one of several possible evolution conditions, so personality alone may not be enough.

The 16 personality names: an unofficial reference
Bandai Namco confirms that there are 16 personality types, but does not publish a full official chart of each type’s exact stat growth, skills and equipment effects. The following names and groupings are from JSUK’s unofficial guide, which also lists stat associations and personality skills. Treat those detailed associations as community reference rather than publisher-confirmed data.

For example, JSUK lists Zealous as raising AGI and giving access to First in Line and Fast Break; it lists Daring as raising DEF and associating it with Stout Defense and Strategic Order. These are the guide’s claims, not official skill recommendations. Its August 2026 analysis says that 150 of 417 Digimon with a stat condition had a starting personality stat matching one of their evolution-condition stats (36%); that is the guide’s dataset analysis, not an official game statistic. - For combat stats: consider whether the personality’s growth pattern supports the Digimon’s intended role. The official Daring example points to Attack and Defense for physical offense.
- For skills: check which personality-linked skills are available, while treating unofficial skill charts as community references.
- For evolution: inspect the target form’s conditions first; change personality only if that requirement calls for it.
- For overall progression: consider equipment, attachment skills, DigiFarm training and Agent Skills as well. Personality is not the only way to shape a build.
What the official sources do not specify
The official explanations establish the broad effects and ways personality can change, but do not provide a complete official mapping of all 16 types to exact numerical growth formulas, exact change thresholds or item names, or every Digimon’s personality-dependent evolution requirements. The detailed chart above is therefore useful as a starting reference, not a substitute for checking the in-game requirements.
