In the U.S., most PlayStation Store digital games and add-ons can be refunded within 14 days of purchase only if downloading or streaming has not started. PlayStation lists an exception for faulty content. Pre-orders, subscriptions, consumables, bundles, wallet funds, and retailer-bought codes follow different rules, so check the purchase type before contacting support.
Digital games and add-ons: the 14-day and no-download rules
For a U.S. PlayStation Store digital game or add-on, PlayStation says you can request cancellation within 14 days of purchase if the content has not started downloading or streaming. If a download or stream has started, the content is not eligible under the standard rule unless it is faulty. See PlayStation’s refund eligibility rules.

How pre-order refunds work
The timing depends on how far ahead of release you paid. In either case, the main content must not have started downloading or streaming; PlayStation notes that Automatic Downloads can begin a download without you manually starting it.

Consumables and season passes
Consumables
For a consumable bought through the PlayStation Store outside gameplay, request cancellation within 14 days and do not launch the game after the purchase. A consumable bought during gameplay is delivered immediately and cannot be cancelled unless it is faulty.

Season passes
A season pass can be cancelled within 14 days, but not after any included digital content has started downloading or streaming unless that content is faulty.
Subscription refunds and recurring charges
PlayStation’s subscription refund request applies to the first payment, not a recurring fee. You must request it within 14 days of the initial transaction; time spent in a free trial counts toward that window. Use of the subscription may reduce the refund. Turning off auto-renewal prevents future charges, but it does not submit a refund request. Review PlayStation’s subscription refund guidance for the applicable conditions.

Promotional bundles and mixed bundles
A promotional digital bundle can be cancelled within 14 days if none of its content has been downloaded or streamed. If any part has been downloaded or streamed, PlayStation says the bundle is refundable only if an item is faulty. For a bundle containing both physical and digital items, PlayStation may revoke access to the digital content if it refunds the bundle.

Purchases that do not use the standard digital-game rule
- PlayStation Store wallet top-ups: U.S. wallet funds cannot be cancelled.
- Voucher codes bought from another retailer: These are outside PlayStation Store’s refund policy; contact the retailer where you bought the code.
- Codes bought through PlayStation Direct: PlayStation Direct has a separate refund process.
How to request a PlayStation refund
- Check the relevant eligibility rule above, including the purchase date and whether downloading, streaming, launching a game, or using the content has started.
- Contact PlayStation Support or use its online assistant to request a refund. In some cases, you may be able to start a request from your account’s transaction history; if that option is unavailable, contact support.
- Have your Online ID, sign-in email address, and the name of the purchase ready.

Where the refund goes and how long it may take
PlayStation says a refund may take 30 to 60 days. It returns the money to the original payment method when possible; if that is not possible, it credits the PlayStation wallet. The published guidance does not provide a refund approval rate or guarantee a particular outcome for an individual request. See PlayStation’s refund information.

Who this U.S. policy applies to
This guide covers PlayStation Store purchases under U.S. guidance checked on October 4, 2026. PlayStation says local law may provide additional rights, and its policies differ by country. If your account or purchase is outside the U.S., consult the refund policy for your country rather than assuming these time limits apply; for example, PlayStation publishes a separate UK cancellation policy.
