Roblox’s latest U.S. economic-impact figures, conducted by Nordicity, estimate that creators generated $752 million in U.S. GDP impact and 7,525 full-time-equivalent (FTE) impacts in 2025. Those are modeled economic effects—not jobs at Roblox or a count of creators hired.
What Roblox’s U.S. impact figures show
Roblox’s September 2026 announcement of its Nordicity-conducted annual Economic Impact Report puts the estimated U.S. creator-related GDP impact at $752 million in 2025, a reported 69% increase over 2024. The same announcement reports 7,525 U.S. FTEs for 2025 and a cumulative estimated U.S. GDP impact of $2.37 billion for 2017–2025. These are impact estimates attributed to Roblox’s report, not a tally of Roblox payroll or individual creator salaries. Roblox’s 2026 announcement
| Period | Estimated U.S. GDP impact | Reported U.S. FTE impact |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $752 million; up 69% from 2024 | 7,525 |
| 2024 | $445 million; up 29% from 2023 | 4,870 |
| 2017–2025 cumulative | $2.37 billion | not stated in the 2026 announcement |
| 2017–2024 cumulative | $1.62 billion | 22,000 |
The 2024 figures are from the preceding Roblox/Nordicity U.S. report; the 2025 figures are from Roblox’s 2026 announcement. The reports’ cumulative FTE measures cover different periods and should not be treated as a direct count of people employed. Roblox / Nordicity U.S. Economic Impact Report 2025
What “FTE impact” means—and what it does not
In the detailed 2025 report covering 2024, FTEs are defined as cumulative person-years associated with direct, indirect, and induced economic activity. They are not interchangeable with individual job positions or a headcount of creators. As the report states, “Roblox does not employ developers.” The figures describe economic activity associated with the Roblox creator ecosystem, including activity enabled by DevEx, rather than employment by Roblox Corporation. The detailed 2024 analysis combines Roblox payment data, a U.S. creator survey, and public economic data, including U.S. Census Bureau information such as average salaries. Its estimates focus on creators’ real cash withdrawals and exclude ancillary earnings such as Roblox-related livestreaming or merchandise sales. Roblox’s 2026 announcement identifies Nordicity as the study’s author but does not provide methodology at the same level of detail; the figures should therefore be read as reported estimates, without assuming the two studies use identical methods.
How creating on Roblox can become paid work
Roblox Studio is a free toolset for creating, publishing, and operating experiences and other content. A creator may build a game or experience, design avatars or digital assets, or make tools such as Creator Store plugins. Roblox’s SEC filings describe monetization routes that include earning through experiences and selling plugins; eligible creators may exchange earned Robux for fiat currency through the Developer Exchange (DevEx) program. DevEx is conditional, not an automatic conversion for every user. Roblox’s filings identify requirements including an earned-Robux threshold, a verified account, and good standing. Meeting program conditions does not guarantee meaningful income: earnings still depend on the creator’s work and the audience or demand it attracts. Roblox 2024 Form 10-K
These routes can develop practical skills in coding, design, collaboration, and problem-solving. Roblox’s 2026 announcement also describes creator learning programs including Jumpstart and a six-month Incubator. Such experience may help someone build a portfolio, but the available evidence does not show that Roblox creation by itself qualifies a person for a job or replaces formal education.

Does Roblox creator work reach beyond major tech hubs?
Roblox’s geographic findings indicate that creator-related economic activity is not confined to states with concentrated tech employment. In the detailed 2024 analysis, states without tech-focused economies accounted for almost 59% of U.S. FTE impact and 76% of U.S. GDP impact. The report defines “tech-focused” by comparing a state’s concentration of tech jobs with the national share, rather than by a simple list of famous technology centers. Roblox / Nordicity report
Separately, Roblox’s 2026 announcement says 66% of 2025 creator payments—nearly $444 million—went to areas with below-average concentrations of tech workers. This indicates geographic reach, not equal payments across states, guaranteed local jobs, or an identical opportunity for every creator.

What an individual creator story can—and cannot—tell you
Roblox’s 2024 article profiled Utah developer MrWindy, who runs the experience Flee the Facility full time and said he became able to support himself about a year after beginning development. It is a company-published example of one creator’s experience, not evidence of a typical timeline, income, or likelihood of success. Roblox’s profile of MrWindy
Roblox also reported that creators earned over $1.5 billion globally in 2025. That is a global total, not a U.S.-only amount, and it does not describe typical earnings or how the money was distributed among creators. Roblox’s 2026 announcement

What to weigh before pursuing Roblox creation as a career
- Choose a creation path: experiences, avatar or other digital items, and creator tools involve different skills and ways of reaching users.
- Plan for uncertain income: monetization requires meeting platform conditions, and audience growth and earnings are not assured.
- Build transferable work: projects can demonstrate design, programming, and collaboration skills, but they are not a substitute for job qualifications employers may require.
- Keep the impact figures in perspective: broad economic estimates show ecosystem-scale activity; they do not predict an individual creator’s income or career outcome.
