Siege Mode is a cooperative survival defense: in the original Kadaku version, three players fight escalating waves, spend earned points on supplies and support, and choose when to extract. Siege 2.0 added Blessings, Atonements, side objectives and a harsher difficulty ramp. A separate Chaos Siege variant arrived in the free Anniversary Update on October 1, 2026, with its own setting and playable faction.
How a standard Siege run works
The original Siege mode is a three-player PvE defense set on Kadaku. Players face increasingly dangerous Tyranid and Thousand Sons forces, earn points by completing waves, and decide how to spend those points to keep the squad alive. The original mode’s launch description does not promise an identical enemy-spawn sequence in every run. Focus Entertainment’s Siege update announcement describes the core rules.
- Defend as a three-person squad. The original mode is designed for three players.
- Clear waves and earn points. Completed waves provide points to spend at Requisition Terminals.
- Choose supplies or support. Terminal examples include ammunition, equipment charges, Medicae Stimms, Cadian reinforcements and Dreadnought support. Spending on immediate needs means less available for help that could matter in later waves.
- Relocate every five waves. The squad is called to defend a new fortress area. The announcement highlights major threats including Carnifexes, Neurothropes and Helbrutes.
- Decide whether to extract or continue. Extraction awards Requisition Points, Armoury Data and XP. Staying longer is a risk-versus-reward choice; the official description does not identify one universally optimal extraction wave.
What Siege 2.0 changed
Patch 13.0, released May 21, 2026, substantially revised Siege. It retained the wave-defense loop but added more ways to spend resources, recurring modifiers and a faster escalation in enemy threat. The official Patch 13.0 notes describe these changes.
Blessings and Atonements
Every five waves, players receive a permanent Blessing at a Shrine and must contend with shifting Atonements. These recurring progression and challenge changes are separate from the original mode’s five-wave move to a new fortress area.

More terminal options and side objectives
Patch 13 expanded Requisition Terminal purchases with support such as a Tarantula Sentry Gun, Tech-priest, Minefield and Techmarine. It also added two random side objectives, giving squads additional tasks alongside holding the defense line.
New bosses and a steeper ramp
The Hive Tyrant and Mutalith Vortex Beast can appear on waves 5, 10, 15 and later multiples of five. Patch 13 also increased enemy intensity and made enemies grow stronger earlier in a run. Patch 14 later added the Scarab Occult Terminator Sorcerer as a miniboss.

The timer increases pressure rather than ending the run
Under Patch 13, triggering the timer no longer ends a run immediately. Instead, enemies become much stronger each time it triggers, so the timer is a pressure mechanic rather than an automatic defeat countdown.
Patch 14 rewards and weekly Accolade
Patch 14.0, released July 28, 2026, increased resources awarded for wave completions and side objectives by 20% and adjusted resistance caps for high-wave enemies. It also changed the weekly Siege Accolade condition: the requirement is to reach wave 15, not to survive 15 waves. See the official Patch 14.0 notes for the update details.

How Chaos Siege differs
The free Patch 15 Anniversary Update, announced October 1, 2026, added Chaos Siege as a distinct variant. Players control Chaos Space Marines on Avarax and fight Tyranids, Cadians and loyalist Space Marines. The announcement says two sectors are available and a third is in development; it does not say that the third sector has been released. The game and update are available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Focus Entertainment’s Anniversary Update announcement provides those details.
The announcement does not set out Chaos Siege’s full wave algorithm, purchases, rewards or timing. The detailed Kadaku rules above should therefore not be assumed to apply identically to the Avarax variant.

Why Siege 2.0 feels faster
Patch 13’s stated intention was “to make Siege mode sessions quicker and more intense,” according to Game Director Dmitry Grigorenko. The earlier power curve, escalating timer penalties and additional objectives all reinforce that design direction, while Patch 14 adjusted resource rewards and high-wave resistance caps.
