To get a portable copy of a CurseForge modpack, open the pack in the app and use Share Profile to export selected files as a ZIP. To inspect files already installed on your computer, check the Minecraft modding folder configured in CurseForge; its location may be different from the default if you chose a custom path.
Export modpack files as a ZIP
CurseForge’s documented sharing workflow packages a profile into an importable ZIP. Use it when you need to share the pack or inspect a portable copy of its files.
- Open the CurseForge app and go to Minecraft or My Modpacks.
- Select the modpack profile.
- Open the profile’s top-right context menu and choose Share Profile.
- Choose which files to include, confirm, and select where to save the ZIP. CurseForge says to generally select config and mods when sharing without worlds. CurseForge Support’s sharing guide describes this export process.
Open the saved ZIP with an archive utility to inspect or copy its contents. The documented access method is the ZIP export; an Open Folder button is not confirmed for every app version.
Find files already installed on your computer
CurseForge’s default Minecraft modding folders are listed below. These are modding-folder locations, not guaranteed profile-specific subfolders.

These defaults come from CurseForge’s Minecraft getting-started guide, which notes that you can choose Advanced during setup to set a different location. If the default path is absent, check which location you selected during setup rather than assuming the profile is missing.
Understand what an exported ZIP contains
For CurseForge project submissions, the documented ZIP structure has manifest.json at its root and an overrides folder. Configs, scripts, maps, saves, resources, and other supporting files may go in overrides; CurseForge-hosted mods are referenced by the generated manifest rather than copied into the archive as mod JARs. This structure is specific to the submission workflow, so do not assume every locally installed profile archive has exactly the same contents. See CurseForge’s project-submission export guide.

Import an exported pack and handle errors safely
To install a custom profile, use the app’s Import option and select the ZIP, or enter a profile code. According to CurseForge Support, profile codes are valid for seven days.
An Invalid file message may mean the selected item is not a ZIP, is another content type such as an individual mod or world, or is not structured like a CurseForge-exported profile.

Manually shared packs may have been changed by their creator or someone who handled them, and they are not verified through CurseForge’s moderation pipeline. During import, the app flags files not hosted on CurseForge and offers CurseForge Files Only and All Files; the latter requires acknowledgment. If you do not recognize the pack or its flagged files, choose only hosted files or cancel the import.
