Buy the One Mind research upgrade to start the Grandmapocalypse in Cookie Clicker. It begins at stage 1; buying Communal Brainsweep and then Elder Pact advances it to stages 2 and 3.
What to buy, and in what order
- One Mind: This is the trigger and starts stage 1. The Cookie Clicker Wiki.gg upgrade table lists its cost as 16 quadrillion cookies (Upgrades).
- Communal Brainsweep: Buy this later research project to advance to stage 2. The same table lists a cost of 64 quadrillion cookies (Upgrades).
- Elder Pact: This is the final research project in the sequence and advances the event to stage 3. The table lists a cost of 256 quadrillion cookies (Upgrades).
Those prices are values reported in the indexed Wiki.gg upgrade table, not independently verified in-game figures; costs can vary by game version or platform. Check the price shown in your own game before planning around them. The Grandmapocalypse page and FAQ also identify One Mind as the starting upgrade and describe the subsequent stage progression.
What changes as you advance
Later stages change the event’s cookie behavior. An indexed result for the Wiki.gg Grandmatriarch page reports that Wrath Cookies appear 66% of the time after Communal Brainsweep and all of the time after Elder Pact. It also reports increased Wrinkler spawn rates after those upgrades, but does not give exact rates.
The Wiki.gg FAQ characterizes the Grandmapocalypse as primarily benefiting idle play. That is a broad description, not a rule that every player should advance to stage 3: whether to continue depends on which effects you want and how you play.

How far should you go?
- Stop at stage 1 if starting the event is all you want; One Mind is sufficient to activate it.
- Advance to stage 2 by buying Communal Brainsweep if you want the reported 66% Wrath Cookie frequency.
- Advance to stage 3 by buying Elder Pact if you want the reported 100% Wrath Cookie frequency.
The frequency figures and listed prices come from indexed Wiki.gg excerpts, and the pages could not be opened for direct verification. Treat them as reference values, and use the current in-game descriptions for your version when deciding whether an upgrade is worth its cost.
