One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe reliable way to add an in-game shop is to install a shop plugin on a compatible Java server, connect it to an economy through Vault, configure permissions with LuckPerms, and test every transaction with a non-operator account. Choose QuickShop-Hikari for player-owned chest shops or ChestShop for sign-and-chest shops. The shop plugin handles the storefront; the economy plugin holds balances and payments.

Choose the shop model before installing anything
Decide who owns inventory, who receives payment, and how players will interact with a shop. That decision determines which plugin and permissions you need.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Player-owned chest shops with QuickShop-Hikari
QuickShop-Hikari is designed for a server where individual players create shops, stock them, set prices, and earn money from sales. A shop is associated with a chest, so the owner is responsible for keeping inventory available. This works well for a player marketplace, a spawn shopping district, or a survival server in which players trade resources directly.
Its documented stack is Paper, Vault, a Vault-compatible economy provider such as EssentialsX or XConomy, and LuckPerms. Players cannot create shops by default; an administrator must deliberately grant the relevant permission. That default is useful on a public server because installing the plugin does not automatically give every account the ability to place shops.

Sign-and-chest shops with ChestShop
ChestShop uses an in-world sign as the shop interface. A chest contains the stock, and a sign attached to it describes the transaction. Its documentation supports Spigot, Paper, Purpur, and Folia servers running Java 21 or newer. The format is intentionally visible: players can inspect the sign and see the price and whether the shop buys or sells.
ChestShop is a good fit when you want a simple, inspectable market made from familiar Minecraft blocks. It can also be easier to explain to new players because the sign carries the basic instructions. The trade-off is that the sign format and chest arrangement become part of your town or market design.

Player shops versus admin shops
Player shops pay the player who owns and stocks them. An admin shop is controlled by the server, usually for unlimited or regulated supplies such as basic building materials. Before launch, decide whether stock is finite, who can restock it, and whether shop revenue goes to a player account or a central server account. Do not grant broad creation permissions until those rules are clear.
Prepare the server and dependencies
Compatibility is the first requirement. Shop plugins are not independent of the server software or Java runtime. Match the plugin release, server version, and Java version exactly as stated in the current project documentation.
Server software and Java
- QuickShop-Hikari: its guide documents a Paper-based server running Paper 1.20 or higher and Java 21.
- ChestShop: its documentation lists Spigot, Paper, Purpur, and Folia, with Java 21 or newer.
- EssentialsX: its documentation recommends Paper, especially for Minecraft 1.13 and later, because of performance improvements over Spigot.
These requirements are release-sensitive. A server that starts successfully can still load a plugin with warnings, disable features, or fail to process payments if the versions do not match. Check the plugin’s current release notes and your host’s Java selector before copying a version-specific jar into production.
Economy provider
A shop plugin does not create the money system by itself. Install an economy provider that maintains player balances and exposes transactions. EssentialsX can provide economy features; XConomy is another example documented for use with QuickShop-Hikari. Use only one authoritative economy balance system for the server unless you have a specific integration plan.

Vault and permissions
Vault is the bridge that lets a shop plugin communicate with a compatible economy provider. Install it even when the economy plugin is already working: the shop plugin normally uses Vault’s interface rather than talking directly to every economy implementation.
Install LuckPerms, or another permissions manager, to control who can create and use shops. Treat permissions as part of the shop design, not as an optional finishing step. A plugin can be installed correctly while ordinary players still cannot create a shop because the permission is not granted.
Install the common plugin stack
Perform installation on a copy or maintenance window first. Keep a backup of the server world, player data, and configuration files before adding or changing economy software.
- Stop the server cleanly. Use the server console’s normal stop command rather than killing the process, so world and player data are saved.
- Confirm the runtime. Verify that the server is using the Java version required by the chosen plugin. QuickShop-Hikari’s documented requirement is Java 21; ChestShop documents Java 21 or newer.
- Install or confirm Paper, Spigot, Purpur, or Folia. Use a build supported by the shop plugin. QuickShop-Hikari’s documented path is Paper 1.20 or higher.
- Place the economy provider jar in the
pluginsdirectory. If you use EssentialsX for economy, install the components required by your server and enable its economy functionality according to its current documentation. - Place Vault in
plugins. Vault must be present so the shop plugin can discover the economy provider. - Place LuckPerms, or your selected permissions manager, in
plugins. Create groups and inheritance before opening the server to players. - Place the shop plugin jar in
plugins. Use either QuickShop-Hikari or ChestShop for the initial deployment; adding both at once can make it harder to diagnose overlapping interactions and permissions. - Start the server and read the console. Look for successful enable messages and warnings about missing dependencies, unsupported Minecraft versions, Java versions, or failed economy hooks.
- Stop and restart once after configuration. A clean restart confirms that the plugin can load from a normal boot rather than only from a live reload.
Do not use a plugin reload command as your primary installation method. Economy, permission, and shop integrations commonly register listeners during startup, so a full restart is the safer test.

Grant the player creation permission
QuickShop-Hikari documents that players are unable to create shops by default. To enable creation for the default group with LuckPerms, run this command from the server console or as an appropriately authorized administrator:

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Grant this permission only to the groups that should operate player shops. If you want a staff-only market during setup, assign it to a staff group first and add the default group later. Keep the permission change in your deployment notes so it is not lost when groups are rebuilt.
Create and stock a test shop
- Log in with a non-operator test account. Do not use the console or an account with every permission; an operator can hide a missing permission or an economy problem.
- Place a chest in a protected test area and follow the current QuickShop-Hikari creation interaction from its in-game guide. The shop should associate with that chest.
- Set a deliberately obvious price and put a small, known quantity of one item into the chest.
- Use a second non-operator account to attempt a purchase. Confirm that the buyer’s balance decreases, the seller’s balance increases, and the item leaves the chest.
- Test the reverse direction if your shop is configured to buy items. Confirm that the buyer receives money and that the shop’s available funds and stock behave as expected.
- Remove the test shop or reset its inventory before opening the area to real players.
The exact creation gesture, pricing screen, and optional settings can vary by QuickShop-Hikari release. Use the command and menu names shown by the installed release rather than copying an old tutorial for a different version.
Separate creation, use, and administration permissions
Creation permission is not the same as permission to edit, remove, restock, or administer every shop. Build groups around those boundaries. A normal player may need to create and manage only their own shop; moderators may need to remove abandoned shops; administrators may need to inspect or repair any shop. Test each group with a fresh account.
Configure ChestShop sign shops
Use the documented sign format
ChestShop’s documented setup is a chest, the traded item inside it, and an attached sign. Write the sign as follows:
| Sign line | Value | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Line 1 | [shop] |
Identifies the sign as a shop. |
| Line 2 | The price | States the transaction price. |
| Line 3 | S or B |
S denotes selling from the chest; B denotes buying into the chest. |
Put the item being sold in the chest before testing a sale. For a buying shop, make sure the chest and economy have enough capacity and funds for the intended transaction. The chest is the visible stock, so an empty chest communicates that the shop cannot currently fulfill a sale.
Build a ChestShop test case
- Place a chest in a protected test location.
- Put a small quantity of the test item into the chest.
- Attach a sign and enter
[shop]on line one, the chosen price on line two, andSorBon line three. - Save the sign and check for a plugin confirmation or error message.
- Use a separate, non-operator account to perform the corresponding purchase or sale.
- Verify the item movement, both economy balances, and the remaining chest contents.
If the sign is rejected, copy the format shown in the current ChestShop documentation exactly. Do not assume that a sign from another shop plugin, an old release, or a different server language will be accepted.

Design the economy and market rules
Set prices with a clear policy
Decide whether players may choose any price, whether staff publish suggested prices, or whether certain items are restricted. A free market encourages competition but can produce unusable prices; a regulated market is easier to balance but requires moderation. Document the policy near spawn and in your server rules.
Protect shop locations
Place shops in a region where players cannot break chests, signs, or surrounding blocks. Protection must still allow legitimate transactions and restocking. Test both a shop owner and an unrelated player: the owner should be able to manage stock, while ordinary players should not be able to steal it or bypass the shop interface.
Plan for empty stock and abandoned shops
Tell players what an empty chest means and how to report a broken shop. Establish a moderation process for shops whose owners have left the server. Removing a shop without recording its contents can create disputes, so staff should document the owner, remaining stock, and any returned balance before cleanup.
Run a pre-launch transaction and permission test
Use a written test matrix rather than checking only that a shop appears in the world.
- Purchase: a buyer pays the displayed price and receives exactly the intended item quantity.
- Sale: a seller receives the displayed amount when the shop buys an item.
- Insufficient balance: a player without enough money is refused without losing items or currency.
- Insufficient stock: a purchase cannot remove more items than the chest contains.
- Restock: the owner can add stock without changing the price accidentally.
- Permission boundary: a normal account cannot create or edit shops unless its group is meant to have that ability.
- Protection boundary: a non-owner cannot break the chest, take stock, or edit the sign directly.
- Restart persistence: stop and start the server, then confirm that shops, stock, prices, and balances remain correct.
- Logging: confirm that the console or plugin logs provide enough information to investigate a disputed transaction without exposing unnecessary player data.
Perform these checks with a non-operator account before opening the market. Operator privileges can allow actions that normal players cannot perform and therefore produce a false sense of security.

The plugin does not enable
Read the first error in the startup log, not only the final “disabled” message. Check Java, the server platform, the Minecraft version, and whether every required dependency is installed. QuickShop-Hikari’s documented Paper and Java 21 requirements are not interchangeable with an older runtime. ChestShop’s platform list includes Folia, but a plugin build still has to support the specific server release you are running.

The shop loads but payments fail
Confirm that the economy provider has created balances, Vault is enabled, and the shop plugin can see the provider through Vault. Check that only one economy is being used for the test accounts. A shop can display correctly while every transaction fails if Vault cannot find a compatible provider.

Check the player’s LuckPerms group and effective permissions. For QuickShop-Hikari, verify that the intended group has quickshop.player; the documented default is no creation permission. Also check for a higher-priority deny, world-specific rules, or a region protection plugin blocking the chest interaction.
A ChestShop sign is rejected
Verify the capitalization and brackets on line one, the price on line two, and S or B on line three. Confirm that the sign is attached to the correct chest and that the chest contains the relevant stock for a sale. Follow the installed release’s current syntax if it differs from an older example.
Players can steal or edit stock
The shop plugin does not replace block protection. Protect the market region and test it with an account that is not the owner. Review permissions for shop administration, chest access, and sign editing separately; granting a broad moderator node to the default group can undermine the shop’s ownership model.
Transactions work but balances look wrong
Record the buyer balance, seller balance, item count, and price before the test, then compare all four values afterward. Check for taxes, fees, rounding, or another plugin that changes balances. If the figures still do not reconcile, disable public trading and preserve the logs and configuration until the economy and shop integrations are isolated.

Maintain the shop after launch
Keep a change log for server software, Java, economy, Vault, permissions, and shop plugin versions. Plugin defaults and supported Minecraft releases change, so re-check the official documentation before upgrading. Test the purchase, sale, restock, and permission boundary again after every major update.
Back up the world, player data, economy data, permissions database, and shop configuration before upgrades. Upgrade one dependency group at a time when possible: first the server on a staging copy, then the economy bridge, then the shop plugin. If a new build breaks transactions, restore the backup and return to the last known-compatible set rather than mixing unrelated versions.
Review inactive shops periodically, remove abandoned stock according to your published rules, and watch for signs of duplicated payments or item duplication. A small scheduled audit of balances and chest contents is more useful than waiting for a player dispute.
Which option should you install?
- Choose QuickShop-Hikari when the defining feature is player ownership: each player should create a store, stock a chest, and receive the proceeds. Be prepared to run Paper 1.20 or higher with Java 21, Vault, a compatible economy provider, and deliberate LuckPerms configuration.
- Choose ChestShop when you want a sign-driven interface and broad documented platform coverage across Spigot, Paper, Purpur, and Folia. Its three-line sign format makes each shop’s price and direction visible beside the chest.
- Use an admin-controlled area when the server, rather than players, must determine stock and prices. Restrict creation permissions and publish who receives the money before opening it.
Whichever model you choose, deploy it first in a test area, connect it to one authoritative economy through Vault, assign the smallest permissions that work, and verify real transactions with non-operator accounts. Only then copy the configuration to the live marketplace.
