To add background music to a 4K 60fps YouTube Live loop, combine the looping video and music in your encoder, then send them together to YouTube as one live feed. Use music you own or have permission to use for both the live broadcast and any archive; YouTube can interrupt a stream when its systems detect third-party content.
What you need
- A video file or loop configured as the encoder’s visual source.
- A separate music source, such as an audio file, mixed into the encoder feed.
- An encoder and a stable upload connection capable of sustaining your selected video bitrate.
- Music rights that cover the live stream and, if you keep an archive, the archived video.
- Your YouTube Live stream key and the current YouTube encoder settings for the resolution and frame rate you plan to send.
The exact controls differ across encoder software and versions. The OBS Project’s Help Portal is the place to check current OBS instructions; do not assume one set of button names applies to every encoder.
Set YouTube-compatible 4K60 output
YouTube’s current live encoder settings guide, accessed in 2026, recommends these settings for 4K/2160p at 60fps:
| Setting | YouTube guidance | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 video bitrate | 35 Mbps recommended | Use it only if the encoder and stable upload connection can sustain it. |
| AV1 or H.265 video bitrate | 10 Mbps minimum to 40 Mbps maximum | This is the listed range, not a requirement to use the maximum. |
| Rate control | CBR | Set constant bitrate in the encoder. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60fps | Make sure the source, encoder output and YouTube stream are configured consistently. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds | Set the encoder’s keyframe interval accordingly. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3 over RTMP/RTMPS; advanced recommendation is 128 Kbps stereo at 44.1 kHz | Confirm the audio codec, channel layout, bitrate and sample rate in the encoder. |
These are ingest recommendations: they describe the feed you send to YouTube, not a promise that every viewer will receive a 4K60 rendition. YouTube transcodes live streams into viewer formats, and the available playback quality can vary with a viewer’s device and network. YouTube recommends RTMPS for the connection.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Combine the loop and music in your encoder
- Prepare the sources. Choose the video file for the visual source and the music file or other permitted audio source. Check that the video plays correctly and that the music file is available to the encoder.
- Make the video repeat. Enable the encoder’s media-source looping option, or use its equivalent, so the video continues after reaching the end. Confirm that the visual source moves as intended rather than freezing on a frame.
- Add music as audio. Add the music as a separate audio source and include it in the outgoing stream mix. Set a sensible listening level and confirm that it is neither muted nor overpowering other intended audio.
- Configure the stream output. Select the codec and bitrate your encoder and connection can sustain. For 4K60, use YouTube’s codec-specific guidance above; configure CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and a frame rate no higher than 60fps.
- Connect to YouTube Live. In your encoder’s streaming settings, choose the YouTube service or its equivalent and enter the stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. Use RTMPS when available.
- Run a complete test before going public. Check for moving video, audible music at an appropriate level, the expected resolution and frame rate, and a stable connection at the chosen bitrate. YouTube recommends testing with both audio and movement like the planned stream and checking stream health.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators during the broadcast. If the connection cannot sustain the configured output, lower the bitrate or output settings to a stable level and test again.
Choose music whose rights cover the stream
Use music you created, music in the public domain, or music whose copyright owner has granted permission for your intended use. YouTube recommends its Audio Library, which it describes as providing royalty-free music and sound effects. YouTube also identifies original music, Creator Music in certain regions, and third-party music sites as possible sources. Availability and license terms vary, so check the particular track and its terms.
Before using a track, confirm the permission covers each relevant use rather than relying on a “free” label or a credit in a description:

- Live streaming, including the intended geographic territories.
- Keeping the stream archive as a video-on-demand recording.
- Monetization, if you plan to enable it.
- Any required attribution or other license conditions.
- Content ID allowlisting, where applicable.
YouTube’s livestream terms say the content provider represents that it has all necessary rights for live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. A license does not necessarily prevent an automated live interruption. YouTube says creators with a license should ask the rights owner to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist.
Understand live copyright interruptions
YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” Its live-stream copyright guidance explains that YouTube may warn you and replace the stream with a placeholder image. If the detected material remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. If the stream is archived, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the live stream ends.

A Content ID match is not, by itself, proof that you lack a license; equally, a license or a credit does not guarantee that a live stream will avoid automated action. Secure rights in advance and, if you have licensed third-party music, confirm with the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Possible cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The loop stops or freezes | The media source is not set to repeat, or the file is not playing as expected. | Check the source’s loop setting and test through the end of the video before broadcasting. |
| The stream has no music | The audio source is muted, excluded from the stream mix, or not being read by the encoder. | Check the source’s mute and mix settings, then test for audible audio in the outgoing stream. |
| The stream reports poor health or drops | The encoder or connection may not sustain the selected bitrate. | Check connection stability and encoder load. Reduce the bitrate or output settings to a sustainable level, then retest. |
| YouTube shows a copyright warning or placeholder | The stream may match third-party content, including music. | Review the music rights and YouTube notice. If licensed, ask the rights owner about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist. |
| The archive receives a Content ID claim | YouTube may make a claim after the live stream ends. | Check the claim details and the track’s license, including whether it covers archived video and monetization. |
Or let it run in the cloud

Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube only; it does not go live from a camera.
