The reliable way to add Calendly to WordPress is to generate an embed from Calendly’s Add to website menu, then paste the complete code into a WordPress Custom HTML block. Choose an inline scheduler when booking is the page’s main purpose, a pop-up text link when you want to keep the page compact, or a floating pop-up widget when visitors should be able to book from many pages.

Have these items ready:
- Access to the Calendly account that owns the event type, booking page or team page you want to publish.
- Administrator or editor access to the WordPress site, with permission to edit the target page.
- The ability to add a Custom HTML block (or, in Elementor, a Shortcode widget). Some WordPress.com plans do not permit custom code.
- A published or previewable WordPress page on which you can test the scheduler on desktop and mobile.
Do not hand-code a Calendly address. Calendly generates the correct snippet for the page and display style you select.
Generate the correct Calendly embed code
Calendly lets you publish either a landing page containing all active personal or team event types, or a booking page for one event type.

Choose the right Calendly presentation
| Style | How it behaves | Best use | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inline embed | The scheduler is displayed directly inside the page. | A dedicated “Book a call” page where scheduling is the primary action. | Uses substantial page space, especially for longer availability calendars. |
| Pop-up text | A normal text link or button opens the scheduler in a pop-up. | A compact call to action inside sales copy, a pricing section or a contact page. | Visitors must click before they can see available times. |
| Pop-up widget | A floating button remains available and opens the scheduler when selected. | Sites where booking should be reachable from several pages or sections. | The floating control can overlap other interface elements if the theme has tight mobile spacing. |
These are presentation choices, not different Calendly accounts or event types. You can generate a different snippet later if the page’s role changes.
Add an inline scheduler to WordPress.org
For a standard self-hosted WordPress installation, a Custom HTML block is the simplest route.

- Sign in to the WordPress dashboard.
- Open Pages and select the page where visitors should schedule.
- Place the cursor where the scheduler should appear and add a Custom HTML block.
- Paste the complete code copied from Calendly into that block. Do not paste it into a normal paragraph block.
- Select Preview and check the page at the widths your audience uses.
- When the layout is correct, select Update for an existing page or Publish for a new one.
The block may display code while you are editing; the rendered scheduler appears in Preview or on the published page. The embed requires JavaScript, so a theme or security setting that interferes with scripts can change how it looks or whether it loads.
Add a floating pop-up widget across a WordPress.org site
A pop-up widget is different from an inline block: it is normally loaded once in the theme footer so the floating control can appear site-wide.
- In the WordPress dashboard, open Appearance > Editor.
- Open the theme footer (the footer template or footer template part, depending on the theme).
- Paste the complete Calendly pop-up-widget code immediately before the closing
</body>tag. - Save the template.
- Preview several pages, including a page with long content and a narrow mobile viewport, and activate the floating control to verify that the scheduler opens.
Only use this approach when the widget should be available throughout the site. If booking belongs to one page, an inline embed or a pop-up text link avoids adding a persistent control everywhere.

Add Calendly to WordPress.com
WordPress.com capabilities depend on the plan. On a plan that supports custom plugins or HTML blocks, the process is similar to WordPress.org:
- Edit the destination page.
- Insert a Custom HTML block.
- Paste the complete Calendly snippet.
- Preview the page, then select Update.
If the plan does not support the required custom HTML or script, WordPress.com may not provide a place to run the embed. Use a normal text or image link instead. Link the call to action to the Calendly scheduling page, a single event type or a team page. This opens Calendly rather than rendering the scheduler inside WordPress, but it is the compatible fallback when scripts cannot be added.
Embed Calendly with Elementor
Elementor pages use a widget rather than the block editor.

- In the widget’s Content tab, paste the complete Calendly embed code.
- Update the page and test the front end, not only the Elementor editor canvas.
Fix an extra scrollbar
Calendly reports that Elementor can add overflow-y:auto, producing a second vertical scrollbar inside an inline scheduler. If that happens, add this rule in the relevant site or page CSS:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute.calendly-inline-widget { overflow-y: hidden !important; }
Apply the rule only after confirming that the unwanted scrollbar belongs to the Calendly inline widget. Keep the entire generated embed code in the Shortcode widget; the CSS rule is a separate fix, not a replacement for the snippet.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use the advanced JavaScript method when the standard snippet is not enough
Most WordPress sites should use the code generated by Calendly. Developers may need a custom target element, a controlled initialization point or optional prefilled visitor details and UTM parameters. Calendly documents loading its external widget script, creating a target div, and calling Calendly.initInlineWidget.

<script src="https://assets.calendly.com/assets/external/widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<div id="calendly-inline"></div>
<script>
window.addEventListener('load', function () {
Calendly.initInlineWidget({
url: '{{SCHEDULING_URL}}',
parentElement: document.getElementById('calendly-inline'),
prefill: {},
utm: {}
});
});
</script>
Replace the template value in url with the scheduling URL generated for your Calendly page. The parentElement must identify the element in which the inline scheduler should render. Use prefill and utm only when your implementation has values to pass; otherwise empty objects keep the initialization explicit without inventing visitor data.
In WordPress, place this code in a location that permits scripts, such as a Custom HTML block or an appropriately configured template. Load the external widget script once per page. If your theme or security configuration strips script tags, use the standard Calendly snippet or the WordPress.com link fallback instead.
Why an embed can fail, and how to fix it
The page shows a blank area
- Confirm that the full Calendly code was copied, including its JavaScript portion and the element used by the widget.
- Make sure it is in a Custom HTML block or Elementor Shortcode widget, not a visual paragraph block.
- Preview the published page. The editor may show source code instead of the rendered scheduler.
- Check whether the active theme or a script-security setting is preventing JavaScript from running. Calendly’s widget requires JavaScript.
The scheduler is clipped or has the wrong height
- Inspect the parent section, column or block for a fixed height or hidden overflow.
- On Elementor, check for the additional scrollbar caused by
overflow-y:autoand apply.calendly-inline-widget { overflow-y: hidden !important; }to the affected inline widget. - Retest after clearing any page or browser cache so you are viewing the current markup and styles.
The floating widget does not appear
- Verify that the widget code was placed in the theme footer immediately before
</body>, then save the template. - Open a fresh front-end page rather than relying on an already loaded editor tab.
- Check that the floating control is not hidden behind a theme element or outside the viewport on mobile.
WordPress.com removes or refuses the code
This normally indicates that the plan does not support the required HTML or script capability. Use a standard text or image link to the Calendly page, event type or team page, or move the embed to a plan that permits custom code.
Bookings open, but the wrong page or event appears
Return to Calendly and regenerate the snippet from the intended landing page or event type. The generated code is tied to the page you selected in Add to website; replacing it with a manually edited address can send visitors to an unintended destination.
Test the finished integration
Before directing traffic to the page, run through this checklist:
- The visible heading and call to action explain what visitors can book.
- The scheduler loads without a blank region or nested scrollbar.
- A visitor can select an available time and reach Calendly’s confirmation step.
- The page works at a narrow mobile width as well as on desktop.
- A pop-up text link opens from its intended button or sentence.
- A pop-up widget remains usable without covering essential navigation or content.
- If you changed an event type, landing page or team page in Calendly, the WordPress embed still points to the intended destination.
When the standard generated snippet meets these checks, no custom JavaScript is necessary. Reserve the advanced method for a real integration requirement such as a controlled parent element, prefilled values or UTM tracking.
