CurseForge lists v2.0.0 Patch 2, released January 19, 2024, as the latest version. Install that profile through the CurseForge app, allocate the project’s published 6–8 GB of RAM, and use its included Essential hosting route if you want to play with friends without purchasing a separate server. The pack is deliberately difficult: it combines 13 role-based Origins, MMO-style loot, raid-like bosses, progression gates and difficulty that increases as a run continues.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
This guide explains the systems that affect a first playthrough, the exact client installation path, memory planning, friend hosting, voice chat and what you must verify before attempting a dedicated server.

Infernal Origins at a glance
Infernal Origins is built by DaddyUnion around short, replayable attempts rather than a conventional, relaxed survival world. The intended group size is at least three players, although the creator states that solo play is supported. A coordinated party can divide combat and support responsibilities between Origins, while a solo player must cover more of those jobs personally.

What makes the pack different from ordinary modded survival?
Thirteen Origins function as classes
Infernal Origins supplies 13 custom Origins arranged around recognizable MMO jobs, including damage dealer, healer, tank and utility roles. Your Origin is therefore more than a cosmetic choice: it influences what you contribute to exploration, boss encounters and party recovery. Discuss roles before starting a group world so that several players do not select overlapping damage builds while nobody is prepared to support or protect the team.
Each Origin upgrades after the Ender Dragon is defeated. That creates a major post-dragon milestone: the fight is not simply the end of the campaign, because it unlocks a stronger version of the class you selected. Plan your build and equipment with that later upgrade in mind, especially if your group expects to continue into difficult repeat runs.
Progression can make delay dangerous
Difficulty scales over time. Falling behind the expected progression does not merely leave you under-equipped; later encounters can become harder while you are still trying to catch up. Treat advancement as a group schedule: explore for resources, improve equipment and tackle progression objectives before spending too long in low-value areas.
The scaling model is also why the pack suits roguelike-style repeated attempts. A failed run gives your group information about enemy mechanics, route planning and role coverage. On the next attempt, change one or two decisions—such as when to fight a boss, which player handles support or how supplies are distributed—rather than repeating the same opening.
Bosses use raid-style mechanics
The pack adds familiar bosses with custom mechanics, including attacks intended to wipe an unprepared party. These fights reward communication and positioning rather than simply holding the attack button. Before engaging, identify who will call movement, who watches for the dangerous attack and where players regroup after a forced separation.

Loot follows MMO conventions
Items use custom rarities and borders, making visual loot quality part of the progression loop. Item stacks are raised to 999, which reduces the number of inventory slots consumed by common materials and lets a party carry larger supplies. It does not remove the need for organization: reserve dedicated storage for healing, building materials, boss consumables and upgrade components so that a death or hurried retreat does not turn into a sorting problem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow to install Infernal Origins with CurseForge
The safest installation is a clean CurseForge profile generated for the listed release. Do not copy individual mods into another instance or combine the pack with a different loader.
- Install or open the CurseForge app. Use the Minecraft section of the launcher, not a manually assembled game directory.
- Open Browse or Discover and choose Minecraft modpacks. Search for Infernal Origins and select the project by DaddyUnion.
- Select the exact release. Choose Minecraft 1.16.5, the Forge loader and v2.0.0 Patch 2, listed as the latest release dated January 19, 2024.
- Let CurseForge create the profile. The app will generate a dedicated modding folder and install the pack’s files there. Avoid pointing the profile at a directory already used by another modpack.
- Launch the generated profile. The first launch may take longer while Forge prepares libraries and configuration files. Allow it to finish before judging startup performance.
- Confirm the profile before joining anyone. Check that the title screen or profile details identify Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge, and that the selected pack is v2.0.0 Patch 2.
CurseForge’s compatibility rule is straightforward: the loader and Minecraft version must match. Do not use a Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt instance, and do not connect a newer-Minecraft profile to a 1.16.5 world. If one player has a different pack revision, reinstall or switch that player to the group’s exact profile rather than trying to repair the mismatch by adding individual files.
Memory and practical hardware planning
Allocate the published 6–8 GB recommendation
The canonical project page publishes a 6–8 GB RAM recommendation. Treat that as memory assigned to the game instance, not as the total physical memory in the computer. Your operating system and background applications still need room, so a machine with only the minimum total system memory may experience pressure even when the launcher is configured correctly.
Start within the documented range and watch the launcher’s memory indicator. If it reports pressure, close browsers, recording software and other memory-heavy applications before lowering the allocation. Increasing the value beyond the published range is not automatically better: excessive allocation can leave the operating system starved and may worsen stutter.

What the project page does not specify
No complete CPU, GPU, storage or operating-system requirement is published on the canonical project page. Do not treat an invented specification as an official minimum. In practical terms, keep the game on a healthy drive, update the graphics driver supported by your operating system and test the pack in an empty world before inviting a full party, but regard those as sensible preparation rather than documented Infernal Origins requirements.
First-launch checks
- Give the profile time to finish its initial Forge setup.
- Enter a test world and move through several areas before changing many settings.
- Close other heavy applications if the launcher shows memory pressure.
- Keep the same memory allocation approach for every player where possible; large differences can make troubleshooting harder.
Choosing an Origin and planning a party
For a three-player group
With the creator’s recommended minimum of three players, cover three different needs rather than choosing three identical damage roles. One player can focus on damage, one on healing or recovery and one on tanking or utility. The exact Origin names and abilities are not listed in the project description, so evaluate the in-game tooltips instead of assuming that two roles with similar labels behave identically.
For larger groups
Additional players can duplicate a role when an encounter benefits from it, but keep at least one reliable source of support and one player who can control enemy attention or provide utility. Agree on who carries shared consumables and who makes the retreat call. The pack’s wipe-style attacks punish a group that reacts independently.
For solo play
Solo play is supported, but one character must compensate for missing party roles. Favor an Origin whose documented abilities let you survive mistakes, recover health or control enemies, then carry extra supplies for encounters that would normally be divided among teammates. Because difficulty scales, avoid long detours that delay core progression.

Playing with friends without renting a server
Use the included Essential route first
Essential is included in the pack and provides the documented way to host friends without purchasing a separate server. For a small group, it is the shortest setup path because the hosting feature is already part of the installed client profile.
Rank #4
- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
- Install the same profile on every computer. Each player should use Infernal Origins v2.0.0 Patch 2, Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge.
- Launch the pack and load or create the world. The player who will host should verify that the world opens normally before inviting others.
- Open Essential’s in-game hosting or invite controls. Follow the controls presented by the installed version; do not substitute a different modloader profile.
- Invite the other players through the provided friend-hosting flow. Friends must also be running the matching profile before accepting.
- Test a short session. Have every player move, open containers and enter a nearby area. Resolve connection or missing-content errors before beginning a long progression run.
This approach avoids a separate server purchase, but the host’s computer and connection remain part of the session. The world is available only while the host’s hosting session is operating, so it is best for scheduled play rather than a world that must remain online continuously.
Enable and test proximity voice chat
Proximity voice chat is built into the pack and is activated with the X key. A headset with a microphone is the most direct accessory for this feature because it reduces speaker feedback and makes directional conversation easier to understand.

- Use the voice-chat controls to select the intended input and output devices.
- Press X in a safe area and speak while another player walks away, confirming that volume changes with distance.
- Test voice chat before a boss attempt. If the microphone is not detected, check the operating system’s selected input device and the game’s voice settings before changing unrelated mod files.
When a dedicated server makes sense
A dedicated server offers more control over uptime, backups, permissions and who can join. It also adds administration work and compatibility risk. The canonical Infernal Origins page does not publish a dedicated-server recipe or confirm a server pack for v2.0.0 Patch 2, so do not assume that downloading the client files and starting a generic Forge server will produce a working installation.
| Consideration | Essential friend hosting | Dedicated server |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Shortest documented path; the hosting feature is included | Requires verified server files, configuration and ongoing administration |
| Cost | Can avoid a separate server purchase for a small group | Requires paid hosting or your own continuously available hardware |
| Control | Limited to the host session and in-pack controls | Greater control over uptime, backups, permissions and access |
| Compatibility risk | Players still need the same 1.16.5 Forge profile | Every client, server mod, dependency, config and world-generation file must match |
| Voice communication | Uses the included proximity chat, activated with X | Requires confirming that the server-side installation supports the same voice-chat setup |
Verify a server pack before deployment
Before paying for hosting or exposing a home server to the internet, obtain or verify a server pack for the exact Infernal Origins release. Confirm that it contains all required server-side mods, dependencies, configuration files and world-generation data. A client-only archive may launch on your computer but fail on a headless server, generate a different world or disconnect players when a required file is missing.
General Modrinth documentation mentions Modrinth Servers, mrpack-install and the itzg/minecraft-server Docker image as server-side modpack tools. Those resources do not verify compatibility with this specific Forge 1.16.5 pack, so treat them as technical leads rather than guaranteed instructions. Test the exact release on a private instance first, record the Forge version and compare the server log with a client log before inviting players.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Dedicated-server checklist
- Use Minecraft 1.16.5 and the Forge profile required by v2.0.0 Patch 2.
- Install a server pack or file set explicitly verified for that release.
- Compare the client and server mod, dependency and configuration lists.
- Generate a test world and check that custom generation and progression systems load.
- Back up the world before updates, configuration changes or major boss attempts.
- Restrict permissions and test joining with a non-admin account.
- Confirm that proximity voice chat works for a remote player, not only on the host machine.
Troubleshooting common failures
The pack will not launch
First check the profile identity: Minecraft 1.16.5, Forge and v2.0.0 Patch 2 must all be present. If you assembled the instance manually, remove it and let CurseForge generate a clean profile. Close other heavy applications if memory pressure is reported, then retry before changing advanced Java settings.
A friend cannot join
Compare both players’ profile versions and loaders character by character. A different patch, a Fabric or NeoForge profile, or a manually added mod can prevent the Essential invitation from working. Have the affected player launch the clean generated profile and test a new invitation before modifying the world.
The game disconnects during a boss fight
Separate a gameplay wipe from a network or memory failure. If everyone sees the same defeat and the world remains stable, the encounter may have triggered its intended raid-style wipe attack. If one player disconnects or the host reports memory pressure, shorten the session, close background applications and test the connection in a non-combat area.
Voice chat is silent
Press X to confirm the documented activation key, then verify the operating system input and output devices. Test at close range before checking distance behavior. If the pack is running through a mismatched profile or an unverified dedicated-server installation, restore the exact Forge 1.16.5 client and confirm the server files before troubleshooting microphones further.
A dedicated server starts but the world is wrong
Stop the server and compare its files with the verified release. Missing configuration or world-generation files can allow a server to start while producing an incompatible world. Do not migrate an important save until a test world demonstrates that the custom systems, progression and dependencies load correctly.
A sensible first session
- Install the clean CurseForge profile and allocate 6–8 GB to the game instance.
- Choose Origins that cover damage, support and survivability for your group size.
- Create a test world, check controls and verify proximity voice chat with the X key.
- Use Essential hosting for the first multiplayer session rather than deploying an unverified dedicated server.
- Set a progression goal and avoid spending so long on low-value exploration that scaling difficulty leaves the party behind.
- Before each boss, identify the wipe mechanic response, regroup point, consumable carrier and retreat caller.
- After a failed run, adjust the plan using what the party learned instead of repeating the same route.
Infernal Origins server setup: the practical verdict
For most small groups, the correct starting point is the included Essential host: it is documented, avoids a separate server purchase and keeps the installation close to the profile that every player already needs. A dedicated server is worthwhile when you need persistent uptime, independent backups or administrative control, but the project page does not confirm a ready-made server recipe. Verify an exact-release server pack and every dependency before committing a world or paying for hosting.
