On PS5, use Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Add Funds. On PS4, go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Wallet, then choose Add Funds. You can also redeem a PlayStation Store gift card or voucher.
Add funds on PS5
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts.
- Select Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Add Funds.
- Choose a payment method and amount, then select Continue.
- Review the confirmation details and select Yes to complete the top-up.
Add funds on PS4
- Open Settings > Account Management > Account Information.
- Select Wallet and sign in if prompted.
- Select Add Funds, choose a payment method and amount, then select Continue.
- Review the confirmation details and select Yes.
Add funds through the PlayStation Store online
- Sign in to the PlayStation Store.
- Select your profile icon, then choose Payment Management > Add Funds.
- Choose a payment method and amount, then select Add Funds.
Use a PlayStation Store gift card or voucher
A PlayStation Store gift card or voucher code is an alternative to adding a saved payment method. Redeem the code through the PlayStation Store on your console or online. Check that the voucher is valid for the country or region set on your account; voucher availability and rules vary by region. See Sony’s voucher redemption instructions before buying or redeeming a code.

Payment methods, accounts, and wallet rules
Payment methods depend on your region
Sony’s US payment-method list includes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Cash App Pay. This is a US-specific list, not a worldwide guarantee. The methods available to you depend on your account’s country or region; check the payment options on your local PlayStation Store payment-method page.
Child accounts use the family manager’s wallet
A child account does not have a separate wallet and cannot add funds to one. Purchases draw on the family manager’s wallet, subject to the child account’s monthly spending limit. Sony says that limit defaults to zero when the child account is created.

Wallet funds and purchases
Wallet funds are used first when you make a purchase. If the balance does not cover the full amount, the remainder can be paid with another payment method. Sony may still require a payment method for a subscription, even if you intend to use wallet funds.
Understand the refund and transfer restrictions
Sony’s US terms say wallet funds can be used for PlayStation Store purchases and certain third-party service purchases, are subject to a maximum balance, and are generally non-refundable and non-transferable except where law requires. Terms and legal protections may differ by jurisdiction. Check the terms for your region and avoid adding more than you expect to use. Read Sony’s US PlayStation Network Terms of Service, section 7.3.

If a top-up fails or the balance does not appear
- Payment declined: Confirm that the payment method is accepted in your account’s country or region. Try another eligible method or use a region-compatible PlayStation Store voucher. Sony’s wallet top-up help page provides current instructions and troubleshooting.
- Possible service issue: Check PlayStation Network service status and try again if wallet funding is affected by an outage.
- Funds or content missing: Check your transaction history to see whether the top-up or purchase completed before attempting it again.
- Duplicate or unfamiliar charge: Review your PlayStation transaction history and bank statement, then contact PlayStation Support through the appropriate help path.
