Select the running game and make sure activity sharing is enabled.
Discord does not import your entire Steam or Epic Games collection into a universal launcher library. Registered Games tells Discord which running application to recognize for status updates, streaming, and—when supported by the game—Rich Presence or invites.

What “adding a game” means in Discord
People usually mean one of four different things when they ask how to add a game to their Discord library:

- Use Rich Presence or game invites: The game itself must support Discord’s relevant integration. Registration alone does not create these features.
- Play a game inside Discord: Launch a Discord Activity through the App Launcher instead of adding an installed game.
Discord’s current documented terminology is generally Registered Games, Game Detection, and Activity Status. Older versions or help pages may still refer to Game Activity.

How to add a PC game to Discord
These instructions apply to the Discord desktop application on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Discord’s browser and mobile clients cannot inspect locally running PC programs in the same way.
- Open the Discord desktop app.
- Start the game and leave it running. Starting only Steam, Epic Games Launcher, or another launcher may not be enough.
- In Discord, click the gear icon beside your username to open User Settings.
- Under Activity Settings, select Registered Games.
- Check whether Discord has already detected the game.
- If it is missing, click Add it.
- Select the game from the list of currently running applications.
- Return to the Registered Games list and confirm that detection for the entry is enabled.
Discord recommends having the game open before using Add it. The entry registers the application Discord detects; it does not move the installation, transfer ownership, or add the title to Steam or Epic Games.

How to make the game visible to friends
Registration and visibility are separate. A game can appear in your Registered Games list while remaining hidden from other people.
- Open User Settings.
- Go to Activity Settings → Activity Privacy.
- Enable Share my activity with others, or the equivalent activity-sharing control shown in your client.
- Return to Registered Games and check the individual game’s detection or visibility toggle.
- If the activity is missing only in one server, check that server’s activity-privacy setting.
Discord can apply activity controls globally, per server, per game, and through connected-account settings. A server-level restriction may hide your activity from other members without necessarily removing it from your own view. Discord explains these controls in its Activity Sharing documentation.
If Discord does not detect the game
Try these fixes in order:
- Close and relaunch the game, then revisit Registered Games.
- Make sure the actual game is running, not just its store or launcher.
- Open Registered Games while the game is open and select Add it.
- If Discord lists both a launcher and the game, select the game process where possible.
- Restart Discord if the running-application list appears stale.
- Restart the game after restarting Discord and try the manual-add process again.
Manual registration is useful for recognition, but it cannot force every title to support every Discord feature. Some games may still lack reliable detection, Rich Presence, invites, or game streaming.

How to stream the game in Discord
- Launch the game.
- Join a voice channel or start a call.
- Click the screen-share or stream control.
- Choose the detected game window, if it appears.
- Select Go Live.
Adding a game does not guarantee that Discord will offer it as a stream. Discord states that if a title is not automatically detected and cannot be added manually, it cannot be selected as a detected game through that route. Why Rich Presence and invites may still be missing
These capabilities are not created by adding an entry to Registered Games. Registration identifies the application; the game must separately support Discord integration.

- “Playing [game]” as your status.
- An activity card or activity on your profile.
- Rich Presence details such as a game state or party information.
- Join or invite controls.
If an invite says the game was not detected, launch the game at least once, verify that activity sharing is enabled, and confirm that the game supports the relevant invite feature. Discord’s Game Invites FAQ covers the feature’s limitations.
How to show Xbox or PlayStation games
Console activity is not added by selecting a local executable. Instead, connect your console account to Discord.
Xbox
Open User Settings → Connections, choose Xbox, complete the account-linking process, and enable the available activity-display option. Visibility may also depend on your Xbox privacy settings. Refer to Discord’s Xbox Connection FAQ.

PlayStation
Open User Settings → Connections, select PlayStation Network, sign in, and enable the option to display PlayStation activity. PlayStation Network privacy settings can affect what Discord receives or displays. See Discord’s PlayStation Network Connection FAQ.

If you mean a game that runs within Discord rather than a game installed on your computer, use a Discord Activity:
- Open a supported DM, group DM, text chat, or voice channel.
- Select the App Launcher beside the chat bar.
- Find an app that includes an Activity.
- Select Launch.
- Invite friends or let them join when prompted.
Activities are Discord apps, not entries in a personal PC-game library. Discord documents this workflow in its Using Apps on Discord guide.
Registered, detected, visible, and streamable are different

| Detected | Discord currently sees the game or application running. |
| Visible | Your global, server, and per-game privacy settings allow others to see the activity. |
| Streamable | Discord can offer the game or an appropriate window through Go Live. |
| Rich Presence-enabled | The game supplies enhanced Discord activity information. |
These states overlap, but none guarantees the others.
Privacy and recent-game displays
Sharing activity can reveal the game you are playing to other Discord users according to your activity settings. Review global activity sharing, individual game toggles, server-specific visibility, and connected-account display options before enabling it.
Discord also has profile and recent-activity features that may be experimental or limited to some accounts. Their appearance and the number of games shown are not guaranteed. Do not confuse a recent-game display with a permanent, store-style Discord library. Discord’s Recently Played Games on Profiles FAQ describes those availability limits.
