To run Minecraft mods on Minehut, create or configure a server using Fabric—Minehut’s listed mod loader—then verify that Minehut supports your target Minecraft version and that each mod meets its server-side requirements. Minehut’s published File Manager instructions cover plugins and data packs, not a confirmed procedure for uploading mod JARs, so don’t assume the plugin upload steps will install mods.
First, choose mods or plugins
Minecraft mods and plugins are not interchangeable. Mods run through a mod loader such as Fabric and may change game content or mechanics. Plugins are made for compatible server software, such as Paper, and are managed through Minehut’s Add-Ons workflow. Minehut describes Fabric as a server mod loader and Paper as a Spigot fork that supports plugins that work on Spigot. Minehut’s server-type guide and plugin instructions document these as separate options.
If the feature you want is available as a plugin and does not require client-side changes, a Paper server may be the simpler route. If you need a mod, choose Fabric and check the mod’s requirements before committing to a server setup.
Set up a Minehut server for Fabric
- Open your server’s settings or creation options in the Minehut dashboard. Find the server-type selector.
- Select Fabric if it is available for the Minecraft version you plan to run. Minehut lists multiple versions for its server types; availability can change, so check the current options rather than assuming a particular version is supported.
- Check the target mod and Minehut’s current support information. Confirm the Minecraft version, Fabric loader version, required dependencies, and whether the mod must also be installed by players.
Minehut’s published server-type and File Manager documentation does not give a complete, verified sequence for uploading server-side mod JARs, creating a mods folder, or confirming which mods it supports. The File Manager article explains plugin and data-pack workflows; it is not confirmation that uploading a mod JAR through the same steps will work. Match the mod to the server and players
Compatibility depends on more than the word “Fabric.” Check the mod’s project page for its supported Minecraft and Fabric loader versions, required dependencies, and whether it is server-side, client-side, or required on both. Fabric’s official client mod guide says to use mods built for the intended Minecraft version and Fabric loader, place their JAR files in the client’s mods folder, and launch the Fabric profile. It also notes that most Fabric mods require Fabric API. Those are client instructions, not Minehut server-upload instructions.
When a mod requires client installation, every player joining with that modded content must use a compatible setup. Give players the same modpack and version information as the server; mismatches can prevent connection or make the intended content unavailable.

Can Bedrock players join a modded Minehut server?
Minehut says proper modded play requires Java Edition and that players should match the server’s modpack. Bedrock players may be able to connect to the Minehut network, but Minehut says Java-only mod content—such as Cobblemon, Pixelmon, or custom blocks—does not render for them. For a modded server, plan around Java Edition players and check the requirements of the specific modpack. Minehut’s modded-server guidance.

If the server does not work as expected
- Fabric is missing from the version selector: The desired version may not currently be available as a Fabric server type on Minehut. Check the dashboard’s current options and Minehut support.
- The mod will not load: Recheck the Minecraft version, Fabric loader version, and every required dependency against the mod’s project page.
- Players cannot join or see the content: Confirm whether the mod requires client installation and make sure players use the matching modpack. For Java-only content, Bedrock players will not see that content as Minehut describes.
- You are following plugin upload steps for a mod: Stop and verify the server-side mod installation path with Minehut. Its plugin instructions do not establish that the same workflow supports mod JARs.
