To use Tebex with PC-and-console Space Engineers players, run a dedicated server configured for EOS and console compatibility, then install Tebex on that server. You can use Tebex’s vanilla Dedicated Server plugin for basic commands or TorchAPI for custom commands and deeper automation. The secret key is created in the Tebex Control Panel and entered into the plugin; a startup message confirming the store connection proves the integration is working.

What a crossplay Tebex setup actually requires
This integration is server-side. Players do not install Tebex, and the plugin does not turn an ordinary multiplayer save into a crossplay server. The deployment described in Keen’s cross-platform documentation uses Space Engineers Dedicated Server running on a Windows PC or on a managed host that supports the required settings and server plugins.

- A dedicated server instance: A normal player-hosted world is not the crossplay deployment covered by Keen’s documentation.
- EOS and console compatibility enabled: Configure the server’s EOS/network and console-compatibility options so PC and console players can discover it through the EOS list.
- Plugin access: Self-hosting gives you access to the server files. A managed host must allow Tebex DLL or ZIP installation and expose the EOS/crossplay settings.
- A Tebex account and game-server entry: The plugin authenticates to one Tebex server entry with its secret key.
- A choice of integration: Vanilla is simpler and supports two documented commands; TorchAPI adds a plugin platform, custom commands and more advanced functionality.
Keen’s Community Crossplay announcement is dated April 4, 2025. The important practical distinction is unchanged: crossplay discovery and authentication come from the dedicated server’s EOS configuration, while Tebex handles store communication and server-side fulfilment.
How Tebex works on an EOS crossplay server
When the server starts, the Tebex plugin reads the secret key you supplied, contacts Tebex, loads store information and maintains the server connection. A purchase can then trigger the commands or actions supported by the selected integration. Because this happens on the server, the same setup serves PC and console clients connected through EOS.

Tebex’s official guide describes Tebex as “the official monetization provider for Space Engineers.” That statement concerns the integration, not a change to Space Engineers’ platform rules: you still need to follow the game, host and platform policies that apply to your server and players.
Crossplay and monetization are separate configuration layers:
- EOS/crossplay layer: determines whether compatible PC and console clients can find and join the dedicated server.
- Tebex layer: connects that server to your store and executes supported fulfilment commands.
- Host layer: determines whether you can install plugins, edit the required server settings and restart the service.
If any layer is missing, Tebex cannot compensate for it. A correctly configured Tebex plugin will not make a non-EOS server appear to console players, and an EOS server cannot load Tebex if the host blocks server-side plugins.
Create the Tebex server entry and protect its secret key
Create the server record before installing the plugin so you have the credential ready when the configuration screen appears.

- Sign in to the Tebex Control Panel.
- Create a Space Engineers game-server entry for the server you intend to connect.
- Open the Control Panel’s Game Servers page and copy that entry’s secret key.
- Keep the key in a password manager or another private location until you paste it into the plugin configuration.
The key grants the plugin access to the Tebex server entry. Do not put it in screenshots, public chat, support tickets, source control, shared configuration examples or a public paste. If it is exposed, rotate or replace it in the Tebex panel and update the server configuration before restarting.
Choose between the vanilla plugin and TorchAPI
Tebex documents both installation paths. The crossplay requirement is identical for each: the underlying Space Engineers server must already be configured for EOS and console compatibility.

Use the vanilla route when minimizing setup and maintenance matters more than extensibility. Choose TorchAPI when your store packages must call commands beyond /give_item and /give_money, or when Torch is already the server’s plugin platform.
Install Tebex with the vanilla Dedicated Server plugin
This path uses the official Space Engineers Dedicated Server configuration tool rather than Torch.

- Download the current package. In the Tebex Control Panel, download the latest Vanilla Tebex Plugin ZIP.
- Unpack it into the server root. Extract the ZIP into the root directory used by the Space Engineers Dedicated Server installation. Do not place the files in a client-only game folder or an unrelated backup directory.
- Open the Dedicated Server tool. Launch the Space Engineers Dedicated Server application and continue to the server configuration screen for the instance you want to connect.
- Open the plugin list. Select the Plugins tab. Under Assemblies, choose Add.
- Select the Tebex assembly. Browse to and select
Tebex-SpaceEngineers.dll. When the tool lists the available plugin, select Tebex. - Enter the credential. Paste the secret key copied from the Tebex Control Panel into the Tebex configuration field. Check that there are no leading or trailing spaces.
- Save and start. Save the server configuration, then start or restart the dedicated server so the assembly loads during startup.
The vanilla integration’s documented fulfilment surface is intentionally small. Tebex can issue /give_item and /give_money; it is not the path to arbitrary custom command handlers. If a package depends on a command outside those two documented commands, install the TorchAPI plugin instead of trying to add unsupported syntax to the vanilla configuration.
Install Tebex through TorchAPI
TorchAPI adds a separate plugin host. Follow the path that matches how your Torch server is administered.

- Download the TorchAPI Tebex plugin ZIP from the Tebex Control Panel.
- Copy the ZIP file, without extracting it, into Torch’s
Pluginsfolder. - Start Torch and wait for it to discover the plugin.
- In Torch’s plugin interface, select Tebex.
- Paste the Tebex secret key into the plugin configuration and save the settings.
- Restart Torch if the plugin was added while the server was running and the interface requests a restart.
Headless Torch installation
- Copy the Tebex plugin ZIP, still compressed, into Torch’s
Pluginsfolder. - Start the headless Torch server and allow the plugin to load.
- Join the server as an owner account.
- Run
!tebex.secret your-secret-key, replacingyour-secret-keywith the key from the Tebex Control Panel. - Restart Torch if required by the plugin’s startup sequence, then inspect the log for the store connection message.
The headless command must be run by an owner. Treat the chat or console history as sensitive while entering the key, because it may remain in logs or be visible to other administrators. TorchAPI is the route for custom commands and advanced functionality; the exact custom command behavior depends on the plugin and command handlers you configure around it.
Verify that Tebex connected to the store
Do not test purchases until the startup log proves that the plugin authenticated. During startup, look for lines showing that Tebex is starting, the secret key is set, store information is loading and the server has connected to the store.

Tebex’s documented example of the successful endpoint message is:
[Tebex] [INFO] Connected to store https://yourstore.tebex.ioThe address in that example is a format demonstration; your log should show your own Tebex store address. A connection message means the plugin reached the store and completed its initial connection. It does not by itself confirm that every package command is valid, that a player has the required permissions or that your EOS discovery settings are correct.
After the connection succeeds, perform a controlled test with a non-production package or test account. Confirm that the intended server-side command executes, that the recipient is the correct player and that a console client can join and receive the same fulfilment path as a PC client. Keep the test separate from a live purchase whenever your Tebex configuration provides a test mechanism.

No Tebex startup lines appear
- For vanilla, confirm that
Tebex-SpaceEngineers.dllwas added under Plugins → Assemblies in the Dedicated Server tool and that the configuration was saved for the correct server instance. - For Torch, confirm that the Tebex ZIP is in Torch’s
Pluginsfolder and was not extracted into a nested directory. - Restart the actual dedicated server or Torch process after changing files; editing a stopped copy of the configuration does not load a plugin into a running process.
- Ask a managed host whether DLL/ZIP plugins are permitted. Some hosts expose only a limited control panel and do not allow arbitrary server assemblies.
The plugin loads but cannot connect
- Re-copy the secret key from the Tebex Control Panel’s Game Servers page and paste it again, removing accidental spaces.
- Make sure the key belongs to the Space Engineers server entry you created, not another game-server record.
- Check that the host permits the server process to make outbound connections. A firewall or restricted hosting policy can prevent store communication even when the plugin is installed correctly.
- If the key was exposed publicly, replace it in Tebex and update the plugin before testing again.
Players cannot find the server on console
This symptom points first to the crossplay layer, not Tebex. Verify that the server is a dedicated Space Engineers instance and that its EOS/network and console-compatibility options are enabled. Confirm that you edited the configuration for the live server and restarted it. A successful Tebex log line cannot make a server appear in the EOS list when the EOS or console settings are disabled.

Basic commands do not fulfil purchases
- Check that the package is calling the command syntax supported by your installation. The vanilla integration documents
/give_itemand/give_money; unsupported custom commands require TorchAPI or another server-side command handler. - Verify that the recipient name or identifier supplied to the command matches the player identity currently connected to the server.
- Inspect the server console for command errors and test with a controlled package before changing several store products at once.
Torch headless setup has no key
Join as an owner and run !tebex.secret your-secret-key exactly as documented. If the command is rejected, confirm that the account has owner privileges, that the Tebex ZIP loaded and that you are issuing the command to the Torch server rather than a different chat or proxy layer.

The log is too vague to diagnose
Enable Tebex Debug Mode temporarily and reproduce the startup or fulfilment attempt. Review the detailed activity and error output, then disable Debug Mode for normal operation so routine logs do not become unnecessarily noisy or expose more operational detail than your administrators need.
Run the integration safely after it works
- Keep the key private: Store it with administrator credentials, restrict access to the configuration files and redact it from support screenshots.
- Back up before updates: Save the server configuration and note whether you use vanilla or TorchAPI before replacing a plugin package.
- Change one layer at a time: If you update EOS settings, the host, Torch or Tebex simultaneously, you lose the ability to identify which change caused a failure.
- Test both platforms: A PC connection can prove the server is reachable, but a console account still needs the EOS and console-compatibility path to work.
- Watch startup after every restart: Treat the connected-to-store line as a required health check, not an optional informational message.
- Disable temporary diagnostics: Turn off Tebex Debug Mode after troubleshooting and remove any copied keys from shared notes or chat logs.
Which installation should you use?
Choose vanilla when you want the smallest maintenance burden
Vanilla is appropriate for a straightforward store that needs only the documented /give_item and /give_money actions. It uses the Dedicated Server tool’s assembly list, avoids adding the Torch platform and has fewer components to update. It still requires a dedicated EOS/console-compatible server and a host that permits the assembly.
Choose TorchAPI when products need custom behavior
TorchAPI is the better fit when packages must call custom commands, when you already operate Torch plugins or when advanced server automation justifies the additional administration. The ZIP belongs in Torch’s plugin directory, and headless installations require the owner command to set the key. Torch does not remove the need to configure EOS and console compatibility in the underlying Space Engineers server.
Choose a different host or deployment when plugins are blocked
If a managed host does not permit plugin DLL/ZIP files or does not expose the EOS and console settings, changing Tebex modes will not solve the limitation. Move the server to a self-managed Windows machine or a host that explicitly supports the required dedicated-server configuration, then repeat the crossplay and Tebex setup in that environment.

Final pre-launch checklist
- Dedicated Space Engineers server is running, rather than a player-hosted world.
- EOS/network and console-compatibility options are enabled in the server configuration.
- Tebex Space Engineers game-server entry exists in the Control Panel.
- Secret key is entered in the selected plugin and has not been published.
- Vanilla assembly or Torch ZIP is installed in the correct location.
- Startup log shows Tebex starting, loading store information and connecting to the store.
- Store products use commands supported by the chosen integration.
- PC and console join tests are complete, and Debug Mode is disabled after diagnosis.
