Install the Imperial Plugins Loader manually: put the two managed DLLs in /Servers/unturned/OpenMod/Plugins, place the Windows or Linux native binary in a sibling native directory, start the server once to generate configuration, enter your product details, and restart the entire server. Do not use openmod reload for this loader deployment.

The loader is a vendor-specific exception to OpenMod’s normal plugin workflow. The exact archive contents, whitelist process and product dependencies can change, so compare the current Imperial Plugins download and product page with the procedure below before changing a production server.

What the Imperial Plugins Loader does
Imperial Plugins products do not use only the ordinary OpenMod plugin-DLL path. The loader has two parts:
- Managed OpenMod files:
ImperialPlugins.Loader.dllandK4os.Compression.LZ4.dll. - Native loader file:
ImperialPluginsNativeLoader.dllon Windows orImperialPluginsNativeLoader.soon Linux.
The managed files belong inside OpenMod’s Plugins directory. The native file belongs in a separate native directory directly under OpenMod. Putting all three files in Plugins, or putting the native file in the server’s general native directory, prevents the loader from starting correctly.

Before you begin
- Have file-manager, FTP/SFTP or hosting-panel access to the Unturned server.
- Know whether the server runs Windows or Linux; the native filename is different.
- Have the Imperial Plugins product package and the key or license information supplied for it.
- Stop the server before replacing DLLs or creating directories. Keep a backup of the existing
OpenModfolder. - Read the individual Imperial Plugins product page for extra dependencies, database settings and the required configuration branch.
The loader-specific hosting procedure documented by Sparked Host was updated on 22 December 2022. OpenMod and Imperial Plugins interfaces may have changed since then, so treat filenames in the current download as authoritative if they differ from older instructions.
Download the loader package
- Purchase or otherwise obtain the Imperial Plugins product you intend to run.
- Open that product’s page in the Imperial Plugins dashboard and select Download. Access to the download is tied to the product purchase or entitlement; downloading a normal OpenMod package is not a substitute for the loader bundle.
- Save the archive locally and extract it without renaming files. A normal bundle contains a
Pluginsfolder and aNativefolder. If either folder is missing, inspect the archive before uploading anything and check the product’s current installation instructions.
Install the files in the correct directories

Do not create another nested Plugins directory. The files must be directly inside OpenMod’s plugin directory, alongside other OpenMod plugin libraries.

The directory is lowercase native in the hosting procedure. Linux paths are case-sensitive, so do not change the capitalization or place the file in OpenMod/Plugins/native.
Check the resulting layout

Start once to generate the loader configuration
- Start the server normally after uploading the files.
- Allow OpenMod and the loader to finish their startup sequence, then stop the server cleanly.
- Look under OpenMod’s plugin configuration path, normally
/Servers/unturned/OpenMod/Plugins/<plugin id>, for the YAML file generated by the loader. - Open the generated YAML and enter the key and product name requested by the Imperial Plugins instructions. Preserve YAML indentation and quoting.
- Save the file and start the entire server again.
The first start is intentional: the loader creates its configuration only after OpenMod discovers the plugin. If no configuration file appears, inspect the startup log for a missing DLL, an incorrect native binary, a wrong directory or a file-permission error before trying to create a configuration file manually.

Complete whitelist approval
A successful second startup does not necessarily mean the product is authorized. Imperial Plugins products can report that they are not whitelisted even when every file is in the right location.
- Open the Imperial Plugins dashboard associated with the product.
- Submit the required whitelist request for the server or product, using the identifiers requested by the dashboard.
- Wait for the developer or vendor to approve the request.
- After approval, stop and start the complete server again. Do not rely on an OpenMod-only reload for this loader.
Whitelist approval is a vendor-dashboard action, not an OpenMod permission or configuration setting. If the message remains after approval, confirm that the key, product name and server identity in the generated YAML belong to the same account and installation.

OpenMod’s general documentation instructs administrators to run openmod reload after installing, updating or removing ordinary plugins. That reload applies managed plugin changes without restarting the game server. ImperialPlugins Loader is explicitly called out as an exception by hosting guidance: it requires a restart of the entire service or server.

A reload can leave native code, process-level state or the old assembly loaded. If you have already run openmod reload, stop the service completely, verify the files and configuration, and start it again before diagnosing further.

Product-specific dependencies
The loader only provides the Imperial Plugins runtime. Individual products may require additional OpenMod packages or a database connection. Follow the product page rather than assuming every Imperial plugin has the same prerequisites.
Example: Hitman
The Hitman product instructions list these OpenMod commands:

openmod install OpenMod.EntityFrameworkCore.MySqlThose instructions also tell administrators to select the openmod branch in Imperial Plugins configuration. Install the dependencies before launching the product, then configure the branch exactly as the product page specifies.
Example: DropBoxes
The DropBoxes instructions likewise list OpenMod dependencies and require a MySQL connection string. A valid loader installation does not create a database or infer connection credentials. Supply the connection string in the product’s configuration and verify that the database account can connect from the server host.

A panel can transfer files quickly, but the important question is whether it exposes both the exact OpenMod path and the ability to create a sibling native directory.

If a panel offers an “install plugin” button that only accepts ordinary OpenMod packages, use its file manager or SFTP instead. The Imperial loader needs a native directory that automated OpenMod installation may not create.
Verify a successful installation
Check these points in order after the full restart:
- The startup log identifies
ImperialPlugins.Loader.dllwithout a missing-dependency error. - The native loader filename matches the operating system and is directly under
OpenMod/native. - The generated YAML contains the intended key and product name and remains valid YAML.
- The product reaches a loaded or ready state rather than reporting that it is unwhitelisted.
- Any product-specific dependency, branch selection and database connection succeeds.
Save a copy of the working YAML and the exact loader archive version. This makes a rollback possible if a later update changes the generated fields or dependency set.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The loader is not detected
- Confirm both managed DLLs are directly in
OpenMod/Plugins. - Check that the archive was fully extracted and that the files were not left inside an extra nested folder.
- Restart the entire server; an OpenMod reload is not sufficient for this loader.
The server reports a native-library error
- Confirm Windows uses
ImperialPluginsNativeLoader.dlland Linux usesImperialPluginsNativeLoader.so. - Confirm the file is directly in
OpenMod/native, with the exact lowercase directory name. - Check file permissions on Linux and ensure the upload was not converted, renamed or truncated by the transfer method.
No configuration file was created
- Allow a complete startup before stopping the server.
- Inspect the log for an earlier dependency or native-load failure; OpenMod cannot generate the plugin configuration if discovery aborts.
- Verify that the plugin-specific directory is under
OpenMod/Plugins, not the server’s top-level configuration directory.
The plugin says it is not whitelisted
- Submit the whitelist request in the Imperial Plugins dashboard.
- Check that the configured key and product name match the purchased product.
- Restart the full server after approval.
A configuration option is missing
OpenMod’s configuration documentation warns that new fields are not always added automatically to an existing YAML file. Compare the file with the current product instructions. Add the missing field manually with the documented indentation, or stop the server, back up and delete the plugin YAML so OpenMod can recreate it. Deleting the file removes your existing settings, so restore only the values you intentionally need.

- Stop the entire server.
- Back up the loader’s YAML and note the current product version.
- Replace the managed DLLs and the matching native binary with files from the new archive. Remove obsolete binaries if the new package changes filenames.
- Read the updated product page for new dependencies, branch settings or configuration fields.
- Start the server and inspect the log. If configuration was regenerated, re-enter only the required values.
For removal, stop the server first, delete the two managed DLLs, remove the corresponding native binary and delete the product configuration only if you no longer need its settings. A full restart is still required to unload the previous process state.
