Steam players can also keep a separate manual copy of their Windows save files. Each backup belongs to its platform account; it does not move MyCAREER progress between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Before you back up: know what a save is tied to
NBA 2K25 saves are tied to the platform account, not a 2K, NBA 2K, or SHiFT account, according to 2K Support. You generally need an internet connection for a backup to reach cloud storage. Make sure you are using the same PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Epic account that owns the save.
Cloud storage is not the same as cross-platform progression. 2K says NBA 2K25 supports cross-platform multiplayer but not cross-platform progression. The FAQ also says MyTEAM progression and the VC wallet are shared within a console family—PS4 with PS5, or Xbox One with Xbox Series X|S—but that is not a transfer of MyCAREER saves between platforms. Choose the backup method for your platform

PlayStation’s support page lists 100 GB each for PS5 and PS4 saved data, with up to 1,000 PS4 saved-data files. Those are platform-wide storage limits, not NBA 2K25 file-size figures. Details are on PlayStation’s cloud storage page.

Back up NBA 2K25 on PlayStation
PS5: turn on automatic sync or upload manually
- For automatic syncing, open Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Sync Saved Data > Auto-Sync Saved Data, then turn on Enable Auto-Sync.
- For a manual upload, go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Upload or Delete from Console Storage > Upload to Cloud Storage.
- Select the NBA 2K25 save and upload it. Check the displayed sync status so you know the latest local progress reached the cloud.
To retrieve a cloud save on PS5, use Download or Delete from Cloud Storage > Download to console storage. PlayStation Plus is required to access cloud saves. See 2K’s instructions and PlayStation’s instructions.
PS4: enable automatic uploads or make a manual backup
- For automatic uploads, first enable Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode > Stay Connected to the Internet.
- Then open Settings > Application Data Management > Auto-Upload and enable Enable Automatic Uploads.
- For a manual backup, go to Settings > Application Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Upload to Online Storage, then select the NBA 2K25 save.
- To download a save, open Settings > Application Data Management > Saved Data in Online Storage and download the relevant files.
When restoring a MyPLAYER on PS4, 2K advises downloading all files beginning with “MyCAREER…”. Cloud-save access requires PlayStation Plus. The recovery steps are in 2K’s missing MyPLAYER guidance.
Back up NBA 2K25 on Xbox
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S save to the cloud automatically while connected to Xbox Network, according to 2K. There is no manual upload step in the documented process; 2K’s missing-player guidance says Xbox saves cannot be manually made.
To view the saved-data options for the game, open My games & apps, highlight NBA 2K25, press the Menu button, and select Manage game & add-ons > Saved data. Back up NBA 2K25 on PC
Steam: enable cloud sync and keep a separate copy
- In Steam, open Settings > Cloud and turn on Enable Steam Cloud for applications that support it.
- In your Library, right-click NBA 2K25 and choose Properties > General. Check the game’s Cloud Synchronization setting.
- Wait for syncing to finish before switching computers or relying on the remote copy. Steam warns that offline play can leave saves unsynced until the device reconnects and can create a sync conflict.
For an additional manual backup, 2K identifies the Windows Steam remote folder as:
C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata(your account ID)(game ID*)remote
MyCAREER files may be named MyCAREER0000 or use another slot number. To copy them safely:
- Close NBA 2K25 and Steam.
- Copy the relevant files from the remote folder, keeping the original files in place.
- Store the copy separately, such as on another drive. A USB flash drive is one possible location for this second copy.
To restore the manual copy, put the backup files back in the remote folder, then fully restart NBA 2K25 and Steam. The folder and restore guidance come from 2K’s MyPLAYER recovery article. Steam’s sync details are in its Steam Cloud FAQ.

Epic Games Launcher: enable Cloud Saves
Open Epic Games Launcher Settings and enable Enable Cloud Saves. 2K also describes reaching Settings from the profile icon. If you use more than one computer, do not toggle Cloud Saves off and on casually: Epic warns this can cause sync conflicts. Resolve any conflict prompt in the launcher before continuing. Epic’s instructions are at Epic Games Help. The cited instructions do not establish a verified NBA 2K25 Epic local-save folder, so the Steam folder above should not be used for an Epic installation.
Restore a save carefully
A restore can put an older cloud copy over newer local progress. Before choosing a copy, check the platform’s sync status or saved-data menu and compare dates if they are displayed. If the game offers a conflict choice, select the version you intend to keep rather than accepting without checking.
If a MyPLAYER is missing and no backup is available, 2K recommends contacting support with account and player-build details. It warns that restoration is not guaranteed and that lost or spent VC cannot be refunded. Read 2K’s recovery guidance before submitting a request.
