Agarmir is fought in the Trentius Family Mausoleum during the “Unfriendly Competition” quest. He has a guard with him and wields the Debaser, which drains Willpower and Endurance when it hits. Defeat both enemies, then take Agarmir’s Shovel from beside the central coffin; it is the evidence needed to complete the quest.
How to reach the Agarmir fight
Agarmir is the final opponent in a short investigation involving Thoronir, a merchant in the Imperial City Market District. Start “Unfriendly Competition” by speaking with Ogier Georick or Jensine. The quest then leads you to observe Thoronir and Agarmir, search Agarmir’s home, and bring evidence back to Thoronir.

- Start the quest: Speak to Ogier Georick or Jensine in the Imperial City Market District.
- Watch Thoronir: Follow him after his shop closes and listen to his meeting with Agarmir. The walkthrough gives roughly 7–8 p.m. as a useful time for Thoronir to leave and around midnight for the meeting; these are waypoints, not guaranteed timings for every game state.
- Search Agarmir’s home: Follow him to his Talos Plaza house. Enter when he is away, go into the basement, and take the Macabre Manifest from the table. The front-door and basement locks are described as Average difficulty.
- Continue to the mausoleum: Give the Macabre Manifest to Thoronir, who directs you to the Trentius Family Mausoleum.

Expect two opponents
Agarmir is accompanied by a guard, so avoid letting both attackers pressure you at once. Agarmir’s Debaser drains Willpower and Endurance on hits; limit how often he can land blows and focus your attacks so you are not repeatedly trading hits with both enemies. This is practical guidance based on the reported enemy count and weapon effect, not a tested build-specific strategy.

There is no established ideal level, class, armor rating, spell, damage value, or attack rotation for this encounter in the walkthrough. Choose your approach based on your character’s current equipment and abilities rather than relying on a purported universal build.
Where to find the required evidence and optional weapon
After defeating Agarmir and the guard, loot the bodies and search beside the central coffin at the back of the room. Agarmir’s Shovel is just to the coffin’s left; take it as proof of his guilt.
Calliben Trentius’ coffin is on the left side of the room. Search behind the statue inside to collect Calliben’s Grim Retort. It is optional loot, not required evidence for the quest. These item locations are reported by GameSpot.

If the quest gets stuck
Bethesda Support lists general steps for Oblivion Remastered quest issues. These are not confirmed Agarmir-specific fixes, but they are reasonable troubleshooting options if an NPC or quest interaction stops progressing:
- Push or knock out an NPC you cannot interact with; do not kill them.
- Fast travel away and return, or sleep or wait three in-game days.
- Save and reload, or load an earlier save.
- Reboot the system. On PC, remove mods if applicable and verify the game files.
