To increase reputation in Fallout 76, help the faction you want to befriend: complete its story quests and daily quests, choose reputation-boosting dialogue options when they appear, and join its associated public event. Raiders and Settlers have separate reputation tracks, so target the matching activities and check your progress in the social menu.
How reputation works
Reputation is tracked separately for the Settlers and Raiders. Bethesda describes seven ranks, from Hostile or Cautious through Neutral and Friendly to Ally, with additional ranks along the progression. Better standing affects how each faction treats you and can expand the goods available from its vendors. You can view your faction rank and progress toward the next rank in the social menu. Ways to earn reputation
Complete faction story quests
Story quests are a strong source of faction reputation. As you progress through the Wastelanders story, make decisions with the faction standing you want in mind; Bethesda says some conversation choices also grant reputation. The amount for a particular choice or quest is not listed in the official overview. Bethesda’s reputation-system overview and the April 14, 2020 Wastelanders update notes identify story quests and choices as reputation sources.

Complete the daily quests offered by the faction whose reputation you are raising. Bethesda’s April 14, 2020 launch notes say that Raider and Settler daily quests award reputation. Those notes describe the daily-quest lineup at launch; they do not verify today’s exact rotation or quest count.

Join the matching public event
Bethesda’s June 14, 2022 update notes document a faction reward for each of these events:

A practical reputation routine
- Decide whether you are prioritizing Settlers or Raiders; the two tracks are separate.
- Advance the relevant faction story quests and consider the consequences of faction-related dialogue choices.
- Complete that faction’s available daily quests.
- When pursuing Settler reputation, join Eviction Notice; for Raider reputation, join Moonshine Jamboree.
- Open the social menu to check your rank and progress toward the next rank.
What reputation unlocks
Higher standing can improve faction treatment and expand vendor goods. Bethesda’s April 14, 2020 Wastelanders notes give the Gauss Shotgun, Gauss Minigun, and Farmable Tiles as examples of gear gated behind improved Settler or Raider reputation. Can you max both factions?
The game tracks Settler and Raider reputation separately, so progress with one is not the same as progress with the other. The official pages cited here do not specify a current reputation cap or document every consequence of faction-story decisions, so they do not establish a guaranteed route or timeline for reaching the top rank with both.

Is there a fastest way to raise reputation?
The official sources identify the activities that award reputation, but do not publish a complete current points table, a daily or event cap, or a reputation-per-hour comparison. It is therefore not possible to name a verified fastest method or promise a grind duration from those sources. A practical approach is to do the relevant story and daily quests, take reputation-boosting dialogue options when offered, and participate in the matching event when available.
