To beat all four numbered Detective Mickey quests in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, accept each case from Horace at his Mean Street Detective Agency, paint the full footprint trail to its suspect, retrieve the stolen item, then return it to Horace. Do each case before its story-area deadline: Tomorrow City, Tortooga, Lonesome Manor, or Mickeyjunk Mountain, respectively. If you miss footprints, the suspect can sell the item for 50 E-Tickets, according to the quest guide.
At a glance: cases, deadlines, and rewards
| Case | Item and suspect | Where to find them | Complete before | Reward reported by the guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Detective Mickey I | Horace’s book — Shifty | Mean Street Cinema roof | Entering Tomorrow City | Power Spark |
| Detective Mickey II | Clarabelle’s special flower — Ezra | OsTown, behind Mickey’s House | Entering Tortooga | Power Spark and Symphony Sunflower Pin |
| Detective Mickey III | Tiki mask — Dolly Dalmatian | Ventureland, between the Hut Shop and Tree House | Entering Lonesome Manor | Power Spark |
| Detective Mickey IV | Louis’s candle — Millicent | Bog Easy Square | Entering Mickeyjunk Mountain | Power Spark |
The route and reward details in this table come from the GameFAQs quest guide, an authored walkthrough rather than a publisher-issued quest reference. These are the four numbered Detective Mickey cases; Horace’s other jobs, such as Find Dog Tags, Find the Missing Pirate, and Find the Hatchet, are separate quests, even though some videos group them into the nearby quest sequence. A 2024 gameplay video shows that broader sequence.

How the footprint clue works
For the free item route, paint every visible Toon footprint along the trail before talking to the suspect. The guide says the suspect then hands over the item; if the trail is incomplete, the suspect offers it for 50 E-Tickets. The game’s brush uses paint to restore areas and thinner to alter environments and reveal secrets, as described on the publisher’s official page.
After obtaining an item, return it to Horace at his Mean Street agency to finish that numbered case and receive its listed reward. The deadlines below are the story transitions identified by the walkthrough; resolve each case before moving on to the named area.

Detective Mickey I: Find Horace’s book
- Accept Detective Mickey I from Horace at his agency on Mean Street.
- Outside the agency, follow the Toon footprints and paint any missing prints along the route to the Mean Street Cinema roof.
- Talk to Shifty on the roof and take Horace’s book. With the full trail painted, Shifty gives it to you; otherwise, the guide says he offers it for 50 E-Tickets.
- Return the book to Horace for a Power Spark.
Deadline: Finish the case before entering Tomorrow City.
Detective Mickey II: Recover Clarabelle’s flower
- Accept Detective Mickey II from Horace.
- Travel to OsTown and find the footprints starting at Clarabelle’s window.
- Paint the prints along the sidewalk to Ezra, who is behind Mickey’s House.
- With the full trail painted, take the special flower from Ezra. If the trail is incomplete, the guide says he sells it for 50 E-Tickets.

Detective Mickey III: Get Tiki Sam’s mask
- Accept Detective Mickey III from Horace.
- In Ventureland, start behind the Tiki Hut and follow the footprint trail toward Dolly Dalmatian. She stands between the Hut Shop and the Tree House.
- Paint all the prints, then take the Tiki mask from Dolly. With an incomplete trail, the guide says the mask costs 50 E-Tickets.
- Return the mask to Horace for a Power Spark.
Deadline: Solve the case before entering Lonesome Manor. A community wiki entry also describes following the trail to Dolly and painting it to obtain the mask without paying; it notes that Rebrushed-specific differences have not been verified, so the GameFAQs walkthrough is the stronger source for the exact Rebrushed route.
Detective Mickey IV: Retrieve Louis’s candle
- Accept Detective Mickey IV from Horace.
- In Bog Easy, start at Louis’s Lonely Shack. Paint the footprints across the nearby islets, up to Bog Easy Square, and onward to Millicent.
- Find Millicent knocking at a door; the guide identifies her as a candle saleslady. If the full trail is painted, take the special candle. Otherwise, the guide says she offers it for 50 E-Tickets.
- Bring the candle back to Horace for a Power Spark.
Deadline: Finish the case before going to Mickeyjunk Mountain. The guide also reports that completing every quest Horace gives you changes the ending slightly.

If you can still reach the suspect, you can use the paid shortcut instead of completing the clue trail; then return the item to Horace to close the case.
