Bayle the Dread is an optional boss at Jagged Peak Summit in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. For help in the arena, progress Igon’s quest until his summon sign appears inside the boss arena; the Dragon Communion Priestess’s Ancient Dragon’s Blessing is another preparation option recommended by guides. The sources available for this guide do not verify attack-by-attack counters or safe punish windows, so the most dependable advice is to prepare the NPC support and approach the fight without relying on an unverified build or timing trick.

Where to find Bayle the Dread

Bayle is at Jagged Peak Summit in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The encounter is optional, so you can leave it for later if you would rather continue elsewhere. PowerPyx places the fight at the summit in its Shadow of the Erdtree boss guide.

How to summon Igon for Bayle

Igon’s summon sign is inside Bayle’s arena, not outside the fog gate. It becomes available after progressing his quest along the Jagged Peak route and advancing through the relevant dragon encounters. If you reach Bayle without seeing the sign, revisit Igon’s earlier quest steps and exhaust his dialogue wherever you encounter him.

  1. Find Igon at Pillar Path Waypoint and speak with him until his dialogue is exhausted.
  2. Continue along the route through Dragon’s Pit toward Jagged Peak, following the encounters and quest progression tied to Igon.
  3. Speak with Igon again at later quest stops and exhaust his dialogue there as well.
  4. Enter Bayle’s arena and look for Igon’s summon sign inside.

PowerPyx’s Igon quest walkthrough describes the route and the arena summon. Its excerpts do not establish every item condition for Igon’s quest rewards, so this guide does not give an exhaustive reward list.

Prepare with the Dragon Communion Priestess

The Dragon Communion Priestess’s route is connected to the Bayle objective. Windows Central recommends obtaining her Ancient Dragon’s Blessing as a possible aid for the fight, but does not provide a measured effect or comparative test. Treat it as an optional preparation suggestion, not a guaranteed solution. See Windows Central’s Bayle guide for its discussion of the item and NPC support.

The Priestess’s quest includes a choice involving Thiollier’s Concoction that can change the outcome. If you want to preserve or compare quest outcomes, check the relevant steps before making that choice; the available guide excerpts do not establish every branch condition. Gamer Guides covers the Priestess route in its Dragon Communion Priestess quest guide.

What to expect from the fight

PowerPyx characterizes Bayle as a difficult fight with heavy area attacks and a large health pool. That is the guide’s assessment, not a measured statistic. The sources cited here do not establish a complete moveset, dependable dodge directions for individual attacks, or verified punish windows. Avoid treating a specific counter or build ranking as settled advice without a source that documents it.

For a practical attempt, make sure you have completed the NPC preparation you want, check for Igon’s sign after entering the arena, and adapt your spacing and timing to the attacks you observe. Igon is an option, not a requirement; the encounter remains optional if you prefer to return later.

Optional spoilers: quest outcomes and rewards

Spoilers: Gamer Guides reports that defeating Bayle without giving the Dragon Communion Priestess Thiollier’s Concoction leads to her leaving the Priestess Heart and Flowerstone Gavel. Bayle’s remembrance can be exchanged for one of two incantations. The result depends on quest state, so consult the Priestess guide before committing if you are pursuing a particular outcome. The available excerpts do not establish all branch conditions.
