For the fight, a Curtis boss guide recommends Fatuo-infused weapons and Lines; parry his regular attacks and move out of range when he starts an area attack. Upgrade your gear first if you are struggling, but treat that as preparation—not a level requirement.

How to prepare for the fight
Bring Fatuo damage
The Twinfinite guide identifies Curtis as Vis-aligned and recommends Fatuo-infused weapons and Lines. That is a guide recommendation, not a published damage-multiplier measurement. Enotria has four elemental affinities—Fatuo, Vis, Malanno, and Gratia—and its elements can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on the matchup, according to the Epic Games Store beginner’s guide.
Choose a setup you can parry with
Prioritize a familiar weapon and Lines that let you keep your parry timing steady, alongside Fatuo damage where available. You can save a dedicated setup without rebuilding your whole character: the Jyamma Games FAQ says the game supports up to three customizable loadouts, each with weapons, a parry gem, quick items, Lines, and perks.

Upgrade if you need more margin
The GameFAQs walkthrough recommends upgrading before the encounter and mentions the Stalwart Duelist perk as a possible source of health recovery. These are optional ways to make the fight more forgiving, not mandatory requirements; its suggested Bruiser level is one walkthrough’s recommendation rather than a verified minimum.
How to handle Curtis’s attacks
Parry regular attacks
Parrying is a central part of the recommended approach. The GameFAQs walkthrough calls it especially effective. The official Jyamma Games FAQ explains that perfect parries deal unraveling posture damage and cost no stamina; the damage they negate depends on the equipped gem.

Back away from area attacks
Create distance when Curtis begins an area attack instead of trying to parry through it. The available boss guidance does not establish a complete move list, exact animation cues, or precise parry timing, so rely on what you see in the encounter rather than a promised combo sequence.
Use the Unraveling opportunity
According to the Epic Games Store guide, hits and perfectly timed parries fill the Unraveling Meter. When it fills, you can perform a finishing maneuver and enter the Awakened state. This gives parrying offensive value as well as defensive value; it does not mean every parry will immediately stagger Curtis.
