Elamein is the Mission 8 boss in The First Berserker: Khazan. The key is to stop feeding attacks into her shield: use openings to get behind her, take controlled damage windows, and keep enough stamina to avoid becoming Exhausted. Bring Lightning purification items, as recommended for the encounter.
Where to find Elamein
Elamein appears at the end of Mission 8, in El Ravaca. She is a shield-wielding warrior corrupted by a sigil. The mission-order guide identifies Lightning purification items as useful preparation for the fight. Destructoid’s boss-order guide
Prepare for the fight
Bring Lightning purification items
Pack Lightning purification items before entering, following the encounter guide’s recommendation. The available guidance does not name a specific item or provide exact status-effect mechanics, so avoid relying on an unverified item or effect description.
Choose a weapon you can manage
No source establishes a uniquely best weapon or build for Elamein. The game offers weapon and skill customization, and its official listing notes that skills can be respecced; general weapon discussion includes Dual Wield, Greatsword, and Spear, but that is not evidence of a matchup advantage. How to handle Elamein’s shield
Her shield is the encounter’s central mechanic. Strikes that hit it are absorbed and build up a stronger counter response, so repeated frontal attacks work against you. Instead, wait for an opening around her actions, reposition to her rear, and attack there: the shield cannot protect her from behind. Destructoid’s Elamein strategy
- Stop attacking when she is guarding behind the shield; do not extend a combo into it.
- Use the opening to evade and circle behind her.
- Land a controlled punish from the rear, then reset rather than committing to a long sequence.
This approach follows the guide’s shield warning and rear-attack advice; it does not depend on unsourced frame timings or a claimed move-by-move script.

Avoid the Exhausted State punish
Elamein can answer Khazan’s Exhausted State with a dangerous Brutal Attack. Watch your stamina as closely as her shield: if it is running low, stop extending your combo and prioritize evasion and recovery. Preserve the ability to move rather than risking exhaustion for a little extra damage. Destructoid’s Elamein strategy
If the fight is going badly
- Your attacks seem ineffective: Check whether they are landing on the shield. Stop frontal pressure and use an opening to reposition behind her.
- You keep getting punished after long combos: Shorten your damage window and leave stamina for evasion; exhaustion can expose you to her Brutal Attack.
- You are entering without preparation: Make sure you have Lightning purification items, as recommended for the encounter.
- You are considering changing weapons: There is no established Elamein-specific winner. Choose based on your comfort with defensive timing, stamina use, and repositioning.
What is not established about this matchup
The available guides do not establish exact attack timings, a complete move-by-move pattern, numerical weakness values, or a measured best weapon or build for Elamein. Treat weapon choice as a matter of control and comfort, not a proven damage advantage.
