In phase two, keep that rhythm for his old moves, dodge his airborne downward thrust, and use a jump-in Tai-Chi Kick to interrupt the charged green-highlight attack when you can read its timing.
How to approach the fight
Yingzhao is a lesson in Nine Sols’ deflection-and-talisman combat loop: a successful deflection avoids damage and builds Chi for a charging attack. Red Candle Games describes deflection as a way “to absorb and accumulate energy (Chi) with which to launch a stylish charging attack” in its official Nine Sols campaign description. Build Chi by answering his attacks, then attach and detonate a talisman during an opening rather than trying to win by trading sword swings.
Phase one: parry the regular spear attacks
Overhead slam into an underhand slash
The long windup gives you time to prepare, but the attack has two hits. Parry the overhead slam and immediately parry the upward slash. Once Yingzhao is open, use a talisman.
Running spear sweep
The sweep can be harder to parry cleanly. Time your parry as the spear begins its upward arc. Yingzhao may make another pass from the opposite side; his brief repositioning can give you a chance to attack or apply a talisman.

Forward thrust
Parry the forward thrust in phase one even though it has a red visual effect. Here, the red appearance does not mean it is one of phase two’s crimson attacks. Use the opening to attach a talisman or land attacks.
Optional sword hits
Ordinary sword hits from behind can add damage when you have a safe opening, but treat them as a supplement to the parry-and-talisman plan. You can also jump while parrying or applying a talisman if that helps you line up an opening.

Phase two: identify the two new attacks
Yingzhao restores his health when phase two begins, keeps his phase-one moves, and adds two attacks with different responses. Do not treat them as a single category: dodge the airborne thrust, but consider a Tai-Chi Kick against the charged green-highlight move.
Airborne downward spear thrust: dodge
When Yingzhao raises his spear and leaps into the air, dodge the downward thrust. Do not try to parry this attack or interrupt it with Tai-Chi Kick.

Charged green-highlight attack: kick or evade
When the charge resolves into the green-highlight attack, jump toward Yingzhao and use Tai-Chi Kick to interrupt him. The interruption creates a short opening for a talisman or additional attacks. If the timing is not comfortable, dodging is also a valid response.
Keep answering the phase-one moves
The overhead sequence, running sweep, and forward thrust remain part of the fight. Continue parrying those regular attacks and convert their openings into talisman damage rather than abandoning the phase-one rhythm.
