Beat Kang-Jin-Loong by waiting for it to come within reach, targeting its head with a light-combo finisher or a charged attack, then using the knockdown to deal damage. While it is airborne, prioritize dodging rather than swinging at empty space. The dragon is a mandatory Chapter 3 boss at Mirrormere, at the end of the Snow-Veiled Trail.
Use the head-height openings
Kang-Jin-Loong spends much of the encounter flying beyond normal attack range. Its head is the stated weak point, and hits there can stagger or stun it. Watch for the head to dip low, then attack; a light-combo finishing strike or a charged attack can create an opening.

Pillar and Thrust Stance charged attacks are both recommended because their reach can connect with the head when it is low. Spend Focus on a charged hit when you have a clear opportunity: a successful strike can knock the dragon down, giving you time for follow-up attacks and, if available, a transformation. The guides do not establish that either stance is universally better, so choose the one whose charged-attack timing feels comfortable and whose reach you can use reliably.
Respond to the attack cues
- Mouth grab: A roar and raised head precede the lunge. Dodge sideways as it attacks.
- Arm strike and tail swing: These attacks travel along a relatively direct line; evade to the side rather than backing away into their path.
- Lightning: Move out of the marked impact areas before the strikes land.
- Breath attack: The breath can travel straight ahead or sweep to the sides. Run or dodge sideways to clear its path.
- Roaring spin below half health: The spin creates a damaging, hurricane-like area around the boss. Stay clear until the attack ends instead of trying to close in.
Choose a stance and manage your openings

Whichever stance you use, avoid spending attacks while the dragon is high or far away. Wait for a usable opening, connect with the head, and make the most of any resulting knockdown.

Optional opening tactic: Wind Tamer
PowerPyx recommends activating the Wind Tamer vessel at the beginning of the encounter to knock down and stun Kang-Jin-Loong. Treat this as an optional tactic: the core approach of evading its attacks and punishing head openings does not depend on having the vessel.
