To add someone you know in Heartopia, open the Friendship Journal, search for their UID, select the matching player, and send a friend request. A January 2026 Dexerto guide says you must first reach D.G. Member level 4; the other player then accepts your request from their mailbox. Menu labels may differ by game version, so follow the wording displayed in your client.
Add a friend by UID
- Reach D.G. Member level 4. This prerequisite is reported by Dexerto’s guide, published January 20, 2026, rather than confirmed in official instructions: Dexerto’s Heartopia friend guide.
- Open the Friendship Journal. A community help page describes the route as Watch menu → Friendship Journal: Heartopia.gg help. The journal’s location or label may vary between client versions.
- Tap the magnifying-glass search icon and enter the other player’s UID. Check the characters carefully, then select the matching player and send the request.
- Ask the recipient to check their mailbox and accept the request. Dexerto’s guide places acceptance there.
Heartopia.gg reports that sending a friend request costs 1 Wish star and that both players must be on the same server. These are community-reported rules, not independently confirmed official requirements.
Add someone who is nearby
If the player is standing close to you in the game, Dexerto describes an alternate route: approach them, select the icon above their head, then choose the green icon in the top-right corner to send a request. They still need to accept it from their mailbox.
What friends can do together
The publisher’s Steam listing says, “You can also invite your friends over and build your dream home together.” That confirms the game advertises friend invitations and shared home-building, but the store description does not explain the UID procedure. Heartopia on Steam is listed as free-to-play and supports multiplayer and cross-platform multiplayer.

If you can’t find the player or send a request
- Recheck the UID: A mistyped character can prevent the intended profile from appearing.
- Confirm the server or region: Heartopia.gg says both players need to be on the same server. Check that your server or regional labels match.
- Update both game clients: A September 21, 2026 Heartopia.Life guide recommends using the same client version and restarting if a player cannot be found. Heartopia.Life’s friend guide notes that menu wording can change after updates and that its controls were not independently tested on every platform.
- Check whether the request is pending: The recipient may need to accept it in the mailbox before you can play together as friends.
The level requirement and mailbox steps come from a dated third-party guide, while the Wish-star cost and same-server rule come from a community help page. The sources cited here do not establish those procedural details as official rules, so check the menus and prompts in your current game client.
