To beat King Chimaerus, clear his poison pools, have the green-marked player move away while the tank intercepts three fireballs, and send four players onto the colored statues when he jumps to the center. The fight is about reacting to these mechanics; the cited guides do not establish a required weapon setup.
Prepare for the fight
Roaring Temple’s official walkthrough, published October 10, 2024, describes it as a level 30 dungeon with a 900 combat power entry requirement and identifies King Chimaerus as its main boss. These are dated access details, not confirmation of the live game’s current requirements; check in-game if they matter to your party. The walkthrough also describes six-player matchmaking and suggests weapon combinations, but those builds are recommendations from that guide rather than mandatory or current requirements: official Roaring Temple walkthrough.

Tank and party positioning
Keep the tank’s aggro on Chimaerus. The official walkthrough notes that his claw attacks target the player with aggro, so the tank should face him away from the group where practical. Games Lantern also warns that players standing close behind him can be hit by a tail swipe; treat that as a secondary guide’s positioning advice: Games Lantern’s Roaring Temple guide.
Move out of poison pools
Chimaerus spits poison at three random players, leaving pools on the ground. The official walkthrough says these pools cannot be blocked. Move clear of the affected ground rather than trying to guard through it, and avoid standing in pools as you continue the fight.

Handle the green mark and fireballs
- Spot the mark: A random player receives paralyzing poison, shown by a green aura.
- Move away: The marked player should create distance from Chimaerus. Games Lantern advises moving behind the tank and toward the room’s edge before paralysis takes effect; the official walkthrough confirms moving away, but does not specify the edge.
- Intercept the projectiles: After a short delay, Chimaerus fires three fireballs at the marked player. The tank should position between the boss and that player to block them. Call out the mark promptly so the tank has time to get in the line of fire.
Stop the center attack with the statues
When Chimaerus jumps to the center of the room, prepare for his large room-wide attack. Four players must jump onto the statues marked with red, yellow, green, and blue flags. Water then falls on the boss and interrupts the attack. As soon as he jumps, call out the available statues or assign players to them. The official walkthrough does not specify which player should take which color.
Use the right boss name
This guide covers King Chimaerus in Roaring Temple. Do not confuse him with Deus Chimaerus, named in NCSOFT’s April 6, 2026 announcement as the boss of the separate Temple of the Doomflame co-op dungeon: NCSOFT’s Temple of the Doomflame announcement. The similar names do not establish that the encounters share mechanics.
