Try to sneak past Licker βs when the route is safe: they have almost lost their sight, but their hearing and smell are acute. If you must fight, damage one until it flips onto its back, then aim at its exposed heart. Against a group, avoid getting surrounded and use space or crowd control.
Can you sneak past Lickers?
Yes, when the route gives you a safe way around them. Capcom describes the Licker β as having “almost completely lost its sense of sight,” but also says it has acute hearing and a sharp sense of smell. Move cautiously rather than treating it as blind, deaf, or unable to detect you. A community guide also recommends stealth where possible.

How to fight a single Licker
- Keep room to react. Avoid closing in unnecessarily so you can respond to its attack.
- Damage it and watch for the flip. Capcom says a damaged Licker can flip onto its back, exposing its heart.
- Focus fire on the exposed heart. Capcom identifies the heart as the weak point. The available sources do not establish a universally best weapon or exact weapon timing.
Capcom’s Resident Evil Portal enemy entry describes the exposed heart as making the Licker “an easy kill”; treat that as guidance about the weak point, not a guarantee of a particular weapon or number of shots.
What to do when Lickers attack in a group
Several Lickers are more dangerous if they can surround you. Bypass the encounter if possible. If you have to fight, preserve space and use crowd-control options to manage multiple enemies. A community guide discusses grenade-launcher rounds as one group-fighting strategy, but that is guide advice, not an official guarantee or a tested best choice for every difficulty.

- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
How to help a partner in co-op
Stay close enough to assist if your partner is grabbed or pinned. Capcom’s Xbox 360 manual describes cooperative actions and partner rescue, but the button input depends on platform and control layout. Follow the on-screen prompt rather than relying on a universal button instruction. See the Resident Evil 5 manual.
