To beat Mahito in Anime Vanguards, first locate him on the Shibuya Station map, clear the initial enemy waves, then focus your strongest damage on him while area attackers hold back additional mobs. A 2024 Beebom guide reports that Mahito is invulnerable until three waves are defeated; if that trigger or the spawn locations differ in your current run, follow the live stage cues.
Where to find Mahito in Shibuya Station
A 2024 Beebom guide says Mahito may appear by the outer subway chairs facing the tracks, beside lane-side pillars, along the station wall, or in unusual elevated or hanging positions. Treat these as places to check, not a guaranteed spawn table for the current game.
Guides also use spellings such as “Mahato” or “Mohato.” Make sure you are following the boss or clone encounter indicated by the stage, rather than confusing it with the separately described Mohato unit. The available guides do not establish an exact act number that applies across current versions, so use the live stage cues to identify the encounter.
Scan beyond ground level
If you see a clone cue but cannot spot the target, pan the camera around the station and inspect elevated or partially obscured areas. A Droid Gamers guide likewise advises moving the camera to find hard-to-see clones. Once located, check that an attacking unit can reach that position; visibility alone does not mean the unit’s range or attack geometry covers it.

Why your units may not damage Mahito
Beebom’s October 2024 guide reports that Mahito cannot be damaged until three enemy waves have been defeated. If attacks appear ineffective early in the encounter, clear the waves before spending upgrades or repositioning solely to hit him. This is a dated guide-reported mechanic, not a confirmed current rule; if Mahito remains immune after those waves, check the stage’s current cues and whether another wave or condition is still active.
How to build your team and handle the encounter
Cover lanes before the boss becomes vulnerable
Prioritize coverage of the lanes where enemies enter, then keep the final mob spawn lane coming from the train tracks in range if you can. Beebom recommends that placement so weaker waves are covered as the encounter opens. The practical goal is to avoid letting ordinary enemies overwhelm your defenses while you wait out the reported invulnerability condition.

Use area damage for mobs and focused damage for Mahito
Area damage helps control groups of enemies; keep a strong damage dealer available to concentrate on Mahito once he can be hit. Beebom cites Vogita Super as an area-damage example and Sung Jin-Woo as a critical-damage example. Those are examples from a 2024 guide, not a verified current best-in-slot list. Choose from the units you currently have by comparing their damage, range, attack coverage, and upgrade cost.
Support the run with economy upgrades
The same guide recommends placing Sprintwagon units before wave 6 so their income can support later upgrades. Treat that timing as a dated recommendation rather than a universal requirement: the best timing depends on the live stage flow and whether your defenses can safely handle the waves while you invest in economy.

Choose units for the job, not an unverified counter list
No current official Mahito counter list or verified meta ranking is established by the available sources. Compare your options across these four needs:
- Area coverage: Can the unit clear or slow groups of ordinary enemies?
- Single-target damage: Can it deal substantial damage once Mahito is vulnerable?
- Range and attack geometry: Can it reach awkward, elevated, or partly hidden spawn positions?
- Economy and upgrade timing: Can you afford useful upgrades without leaving lanes under-defended?
What may differ in the current game
The specific spawn advice, three-wave invulnerability condition, and named unit examples come from third-party guides published around 2024. Exact stage names, timing, mechanics, balance, and unit availability may have changed since then. A 2026 beginner guide from Anime Vanguards provides general team and economy context, but it does not establish a current Mahito-specific counter or spawn map.

If the encounter does not match the guide-described sequence, prioritize what the current stage shows: locate the target, clear active waves, and verify that your placed units can reach its position before committing more resources.
