To beat Mistress of the Night Huang Yan, give her corruption projectiles room to spread, dodge her frost attacks instead of trading through them, and punish openings briefly. At roughly half health, she can transform into a snow fox, so save stamina to evade the follow-up lunge or slam. You can fight with ranged spells or use charged attacks from behind when she smokes her pipe; neither approach is established as universally best.
Find Huang Yan and prepare for the fight
Huang Yan is in Snowfall Palace, Cloudspire. From the Snowfall Palace shrine, enter the building to the right of the palace stairs, take the elevator down, and follow the route to the gate. PowerPyx also describes an optional interaction before the fight: if you obtained Brital Attire through the children’s gang questline, check the rooftop and give it to Huang Yan before starting the encounter. Plan for both Frostbite and Corruption. Multiple guides identify these as relevant status threats, and Huang Yan’s pressure comes from ranged magic as well as frost-infused kicks. Equip armor or consumables that help with those effects if available. The guides support more than one viable combat style, rather than a single required build. Manage her ranged attacks

When Huang Yan forms corruption projectiles, prioritize seeing their movement and dodging instead of trying to trade hits. Gamepressure warns that clustered bursts are dangerous at close range; GameSpot also calls out the homing attack, where several orbs can connect before spreading out. Create space when you see the projectiles gather, and do not assume that being near her is safe just because you are already attacking.

Ice breath and destruction spheres
Guides describe a line of ice breath and paired destruction spheres among her attacks. Move out of the ice-breath line rather than staying in place to finish a combo, and keep watching for a follow-up after the paired spheres. These are guide-reported tactical recommendations, not frame-perfect timing instructions. Gamepressure
Punish safely in melee
If you are using a melee setup, look for the pipe-smoking animation as an opportunity to approach and charge an attack at her back. If it produces a stun, use the opening for a critical or Obliterate hit, then reset rather than extending the punish blindly. Handle the snow-fox transformation
At about half health, Huang Yan may transform into a large snow fox. Guides report that she can follow the change with repeated charges or a floor slam. Keep stamina available and wait for the lunge or slam to finish before taking a short punish; spending it all to chase or attack immediately can leave you without room to evade. The reported threshold and follow-ups are approximate guide observations, not a guaranteed move schedule.
