To beat Savage Beastfly in Hollow Knight: Silksong, watch whether it is charging across the arena or diving from above, dodge according to its height and path, then attack during its recovery. Clear summoned enemies when they crowd the arena, but keep an eye on the boss so you are ready for its next charge. The first fight is optional, so you can leave and return later if you are not ready.
Where to find the first Savage Beastfly
The first encounter is in the Chapel of the Beast, at the far right of Hunter’s March. The cited guide says you need the Drifter’s Cloak to reach it. This fight is optional; if its attacks are overwhelming or the arena is becoming difficult to manage, mark the location and come back after more progression.

How to handle Savage Beastfly’s attacks
The core loop is to read the wind-up, identify the attack’s direction and height, reposition, and punish the recovery. The right dodge depends on the Beastfly’s trajectory, so avoid relying on one movement for every charge.

Horizontal charge
When the Beastfly lines up a charge across the arena, watch how high it is moving before committing to a jump, dash, or attack. Stay grounded while reading its path if that helps you judge the trajectory, then evade or strike through or over it only when the opening is clear. Guides recommend attacking as it passes or after it hits a wall; the timing depends on your position.
Vertical dive and downward smash
When it rises for a dive, move away from the marked landing area rather than waiting beneath it. Once the Beastfly commits to the descent or lands, use the recovery window to attack. PCGamesN also describes striking around its sides during the downward smash as an opportunity, but use that only if you can get into position without being caught by the impact.

Summoned enemies
As the fight progresses, the Beastfly summons smaller enemies. Clear them when they accumulate or threaten to trap you, then return your attention to the boss’s wind-up. Focusing too long on the adds can leave you exposed to another charge. An area attack such as Thread Storm may help if it is already available.
What to do if the fight is not going well
- Getting hit by charges: Pause before dodging and read the Beastfly’s height and direction; a horizontal pass and a vertical dive need different positioning.
- Missing attack openings: Prioritize avoiding the committed attack, then strike after the boss passes, hits a wall, or lands.
- Overwhelmed by summons: Clear enough enemies to reopen the arena, but watch the boss while doing so.
- Repeatedly losing the run back: Follow the guides’ recommendation to secure the nearby bench, or postpone this optional encounter until later.

How to complete the Far Fields Grand Hunt
- Defeat the first Savage Beastfly and the Act 2 Cogwork Dancers to meet the stated unlock conditions.
- Accept the Grand Hunt Wish from Bellhart’s Wish Board.
- Return to the Fourth Chorus arena in Far Fields and defeat the Beastfly. In later phases, watch for Tarflies and the fire hazards they create.
- Collect the Horn Fragment and bring it back to Bellhart to finish the Wish and claim the Mask Shard.
