The full Fallen Dragon battle takes place during Reunion at the Summit Ritual Grounds. Keep attacking its exposed, unscaled flesh, finish one weakspot before changing targets, clear summoned Ghouls when they appear, and hide behind a large rock when the dragon gathers blue light. Near the end, a Pawn calls that the heart is exposed; drop down, reach the chest and the finishing scene begins before the health bar is completely empty.
Make sure you are at the full Reunion encounter
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen contains more than one Fallen Dragon sequence. The fight covered here is the Reunion battle at the Summit Ritual Grounds, reached through Mordria Temple with Eir. The earlier encounter at Mountain Stronghold is described by the walkthrough as ending in a scene rather than requiring a complete kill, so tactics for the arena battle should not be judged against that earlier sequence.

Steam’s CAPCOM listing describes Dark Arisen as downloadable content that requires the base game, with a listed release date of October 8, 2026. Reunion’s objective text, as transcribed by the walkthrough, is “Defeat the Fallen Dragon and save Rovall.”
Prepare before boarding the elevator
The elevator is your commitment point
Take the elevator with Eir only after you have made your final equipment, vocation, shopping and rest decisions. The route continues through the upper hall and a snowy approach to the Summit Ritual Grounds. The walkthrough identifies the elevator as a point of no return. A campsite is available at the top, immediately before the arena, so use it to restore your party and make a final check rather than entering with depleted resources.

Bring recovery and revival supplies
- Carry enough healing items for a prolonged multi-phase battle.
- Bring Wakestones. The dragon’s area attacks and summoned enemies can knock Pawns down repeatedly, and a revival item is faster than trying to stabilize a collapsing party during a spell.
- Rest at the campsite before the arena and eat a meal if your normal preparation uses one.
- If you own them, revival-support rings can reduce the cost of recovering from knockdowns. Prescribed Tranquility tomes are also suggested by one tactical guide as a way to silence dangerous casting; these are recommendations, not stated requirements.
Use a complete Pawn party
The walkthrough recommends entering with three Pawns. One tactical guide suggests a flexible arrangement: your preferred vocation, a healer, a Fighter or Warrior Pawn with taunt skills, and another damage dealer. A Sorcerer carrying Maelstrom and High Frigor is offered as an area-damage option for Ghoul waves. Treat those roles as ways to cover common problems rather than a mandatory build. The decisive mechanics are weakspot access, interruption control and surviving the dragon’s magic.
| Party need | Useful contribution | Why it matters here |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery | Healer Pawn and health items | Keeps the group active after broad attacks and Ghoul interruptions. |
| Enemy control | Fighter or Warrior Pawn with taunt skills | Can draw pressure away while you reach exposed flesh. |
| Area damage | Sorcerer with Maelstrom or High Frigor | Suggested for clearing groups of summoned Ghouls. |
| Boss damage | Your preferred high-damage vocation or a second damage Pawn | Lets the party resume a selected weakspot quickly after adds are gone. |
Nothing in the available guides establishes that a particular vocation, ring, tome or Pawn combination is required. Choose the setup you can control reliably, and do not sacrifice healing or revival capacity merely to copy an offensive recommendation.
Understand what the dragon’s weakspots are
Attack exposed, unscaled tissue
The guides agree on the central rule: do not spread damage across armored or scaled sections. Look for the raw red flesh and pustules that remain visibly exposed, then keep pressure on one section until it breaks. Concentrating attacks both makes your damage easier to read and prevents the fight from becoming a tour of half-damaged body parts.
Available targets and practical trade-offs
There is no single mandatory opening target in the guide material. One guide recommends a Fighter opening on the neck or head and then shifting to a hind leg. The other calls out the head and arms first, followed by the fleshy wing sections. Those differences are best understood as access options: attack the exposed area your vocation can reach safely, then stay with it until it breaks.
| Area | How it is described | When it can make sense |
|---|---|---|
| Head or neck | Suggested opening target for a Fighter; also listed among initial targets. | Use if you can reach it without spending the whole encounter climbing into danger. |
| Arms | Listed as an initial exposed target by the tactical guide. | Useful when the dragon presents its upper body and your attacks have suitable reach. |
| Hind legs | Raw flesh and pustules are described on the hind legs; one guide recommends moving here after a neck or head opening. | A practical fallback when the upper body is difficult to access. |
| Back between the wings | Identified as exposed flesh in the walkthrough. | High damage potential if your vocation can reach the back safely; do not force the position during a spell charge. |
| Fleshy wing sections | Suggested as follow-up targets after head or arms. | Choose them when the wings expose unscaled tissue and the approach is safer than the head. |
“Best weakspot” therefore means the one that is both exposed and reachable in your current position. A theoretically strong target is not useful if the dragon is about to cast, turn, or force you away from your cover.
Step-by-step: winning the arena fight
1. Enter, observe, and choose one section
After resting at the final campsite, enter the Summit Ritual Grounds and spend the opening moments identifying exposed flesh rather than immediately chasing the dragon’s largest silhouette. Call out the section you are committing to mentally—head, arm, hind leg, back or wing—and have your Pawns engage. The goal is sustained damage to one unscaled area, not simultaneous chip damage everywhere.
2. Stay on the selected weakspot until it breaks
Continue attacking while the area remains exposed. If the dragon turns, reposition to the same body part rather than automatically switching to whatever is closest. The guides’ shared advice is to finish a part before changing targets. A broken section is a clear reason to reassess; a brief loss of access is not.

3. Pause boss damage when Ghouls appear
Summoned Ghouls are not harmless background enemies. When they enter, stop trying to force uninterrupted dragon damage and clear the wave. A Sorcerer’s area skills are one suggested answer, while the rest of the party can keep the adds away from the healer or the player lining up the next attack. Once the Ghouls are down, return to the same weakspot instead of beginning an unrelated damage rotation.
4. Hide from the blue-light blast
The most important visual warning is the dragon gathering blue light before a broad magical blast. Move behind the large snow-dusted rock and keep the rock physically between you and the dragon until the blue cloud has passed. The tactical guide also recommends rocks against powerful magic and warns that a charge can make you relocate. If the dragon threatens the side of your cover, move to preserve the obstruction; standing beside the rock is not the same as being protected by it.
5. Resume only after the hazard clears
When the blue effect has dissipated and the dragon is no longer pressuring your position, return to the exposed section you selected. Recheck your party before committing: revive a critical Pawn, heal if necessary, and make sure a Ghoul wave is not still active. Losing a few seconds is safer than attacking through a spell that can scatter the group.
6. Follow the heart-exposed cue instead of emptying the bar
The finishing sequence is triggered before the health bar is completely depleted, according to the walkthrough. Listen for a Pawn calling, “The heart is exposed!” The dragon then slumps. At that moment, drop down and run to its chest. Do not remain on a distant leg or continue a normal attack loop; reaching the chest is the action that triggers the finishing scene.

How to choose between melee and ranged access
Melee characters can usually exploit a nearby leg, arm or neck when the dragon is grounded, but they must leave the target quickly when the blue-light charge begins. Ranged characters can keep pressure on exposed back, wing or upper-body tissue from farther away, yet they still need to identify unscaled flesh and may need to reposition when the dragon’s charge makes their line of fire unsafe.
- Favor safe access over theoretical damage. A reachable hind leg that remains exposed is more useful than a dangerous climb to the back.
- Use the party to create openings. Taunt-oriented Pawns can buy time for a melee approach; area spells can remove Ghouls before you resume boss damage.
- Do not chase during a cast. The blue-light warning changes the priority from damage to cover. The rock is part of the encounter strategy, not merely scenery.
- Switch after a break, not from impatience. Once a section is broken, select the next exposed area that your current position reaches safely.
Route details and the point of no return
Reunion’s approach is deliberately useful for preparation. Travel through Mordria Temple with Eir, take the elevator, leave the upper hall and continue up the snowy route toward the Summit Ritual Grounds. Because the elevator is identified as a point of no return, treat the lower area as your last opportunity to change vocation, replace equipment, shop for healing items or rest somewhere else. Once you arrive at the top, the campsite before the arena gives you a final chance to restore the party, but it does not replace the planning you should complete before boarding.
If you are following an objective marker, the wording transcribed by the walkthrough is “Defeat the Fallen Dragon and save Rovall.” That wording can make the encounter sound like a conventional health-bar race. It is not: the reported ending depends on recognizing the exposed-heart announcement and reaching the chest. Keep that objective in mind so you do not waste time trying to force the last visible segment to zero.

Managing the fight’s changing priorities
The safest rhythm is damage, interruption control, cover, then damage again. Start by selecting exposed tissue. When Ghouls appear, make them the immediate target, because a crowded arena can prevent Pawns from healing or reviving one another. Once the adds are cleared, check the same body section you were working on rather than resetting your plan. When the dragon gathers blue light, abandon damage temporarily and move behind the large rock. Only after the blue cloud passes should you resume attacks.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →This priority order also helps when the party takes losses. A downed Pawn is a more urgent problem than a small opportunity to hit the dragon’s scales. Stabilize the party, preserve your healer and keep enough space to reach cover. The guides do not require a particular damage rotation; they repeatedly emphasize positioning, exposed flesh and reacting to the dragon’s interruptions.
Common mistakes and their fixes
Attacking scales instead of flesh
If your attacks appear to accomplish little, look for raw red tissue or pustules. The guides specifically direct players to exposed, unscaled areas. Move to one of those sections and maintain pressure until it breaks.
Changing targets every few seconds
Constantly swapping between head, legs and wings spreads damage and makes it harder to recognize progress. Pick one accessible area, finish it, then reassess.
Ignoring Ghouls
Continuing to hit the dragon while summoned Ghouls surround the party can leave the healer or Pawns unable to act. Clear the adds, stabilize anyone downed, and return to the boss.
Standing beside, rather than behind, the rock
The cover works only when the large rock is between you and the dragon. If the dragon shifts or your angle changes, move around the rock so the obstruction remains in the line of attack.
Assuming the health bar must reach zero
The reported finishing cue occurs before the bar is fully empty. When a Pawn announces that the heart is exposed and the dragon slumps, stop normal attacks and run to the chest.

Treating a suggested build as a requirement
The healer, taunt-focused Fighter or Warrior, Sorcerer and support-item suggestions come from tactical guidance. They are not verified entry requirements. A different party can succeed if it can heal, handle Ghouls, reach exposed flesh and use cover during the blast.

- Finish shopping, equipment, vocation and rest choices before taking Eir’s elevator.
- Use the campsite at the top of the snowy route.
- Carry healing items and Wakestones; revive Pawns promptly when the situation allows.
- Enter with three Pawns if possible, while treating role suggestions as optional.
- Identify exposed flesh and commit to one section.
- Clear summoned Ghouls before resuming boss damage.
- When blue light gathers, place the large rock between you and the dragon.
- When a Pawn calls that the heart is exposed and the dragon slumps, drop down and run to the chest.
What to remember during a retry
On a failed attempt, change only one variable at a time. First verify that you reached the Reunion arena rather than the Mountain Stronghold scene. Then check whether the problem was preparation, target selection, Ghoul control or spell positioning. If the party died while attacking scales, commit earlier to visible red flesh. If Pawns were overwhelmed, clear Ghouls before returning to the boss. If the blue blast scattered everyone, leave the target sooner and keep the large rock between you and the dragon. This makes each retry a test of a specific decision instead of an unfocused equipment change.
The guides offer different opening targets and party details, but they agree on the core loop. You do not need to reproduce another player’s exact vocation order. You need a party that can stay alive, reach exposed tissue, remove summoned Ghouls and use the rock when the dragon charges magic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the full Fallen Dragon fight in Dark Arisen?
The full fight is Reunion at the Summit Ritual Grounds. Reach it through Mordria Temple with Eir, take the elevator, leave the upper hall and follow the snowy approach. The Mountain Stronghold encounter is described as ending in a scene rather than this complete arena battle.

How do you survive the Fallen Dragon’s powerful spells?
When the dragon gathers blue light, move behind the large snow-dusted rock and keep it between you and the dragon until the blue cloud passes. Relocate if the dragon threatens the side of your cover.
Should I kill the summoned Ghouls?
Yes. Pause boss damage and clear the Ghouls when they appear, then return to the weakspot you were attacking. Ignoring them can leave Pawns unable to heal, revive or hold position.
Do I need a specific vocation or Pawn setup?
No required setup is established. One guide suggests your preferred vocation, a healer, a Fighter or Warrior Pawn with taunt skills and another damage dealer; a Sorcerer with Maelstrom or High Frigor is suggested for Ghoul waves. Treat these as options, not requirements.

Why does the Fallen Dragon stop before its health bar is empty?
The walkthrough reports that the finishing cue occurs before the bar is completely depleted. When a Pawn calls that the heart is exposed and the dragon slumps, drop down and run to the chest to trigger the finishing scene.
Are the listed health, damage and reward numbers official?
No. AllThingsHow reports 500,000 health, 10 health-bar segments, several damage modifiers, 450,000 XP, 100,000 G, 10,000 Rift Crystals, one Norgan Portcrystal and level 4 spoils. Those figures are guide-reported and not confirmed by an official developer reference.
The Bottom Line
For Reunion, prepare before Eir’s elevator, rest at the final campsite, and bring healing supplies, Wakestones and a party that can handle interruptions. Attack one piece of exposed flesh until it breaks, clear Ghouls instead of forcing boss damage, and shelter behind the large rock when blue light gathers. When a Pawn announces that the heart is exposed, stop attacking normally, drop down and reach the chest to finish the battle.
