Then return to Eir at the Mordria Temple elevator, examine the carved lever in the round chamber, ride up, and continue from the landing to the Summit Ritual Grounds. If the final health segment appears empty, wait for the pawn call “The heart is exposed!”, drop to the ground, and run to the dragon’s chest. The scene, not the health bar, completes the encounter.
First, identify which Fallen Dragon encounter you are in
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen presents two encounters that can look similar in walkthroughs but serve different story purposes. Confusing them is the most common reason players expect Reunion to complete at the wrong location.

| Encounter | Where it occurs | What it does | What you should do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Earlier encounter | Mountain Stronghold during “Rumbles in the North” | A survival sequence that ends in a scene | Continue the main quest progression; it is not the decisive Reunion battle. |
| Reunion | Mordria Temple elevator, then the Summit Ritual Grounds | The decisive Fallen Dragon fight tied to saving Rovall | Restore the heart, activate the elevator lever, reach the summit platform, and complete the heart-exposed sequence. |
If your character is still at Mountain Stronghold, the game has not failed to start Reunion. You are still in the earlier survival encounter described in the “Rumbles in the North” progression. The Reunion objective becomes relevant only after the later story steps have restored the dragon’s heart.

Reunion is not a fight that can be started by visiting the elevator early. The preceding story sequence must restore the Fallen Dragon’s heart. The walkthroughs place this immediately after recovering Rovall’s Soul and then reclaiming his Will. Those items remove the condition that made the earlier dragon encounter undying and set up the permanent battle.

Use the story state, not just the location, as your test
- Confirm that the preceding quests involving Rovall’s Soul and Will are complete.
- Verify that the heart-restoration sequence has occurred rather than assuming that reaching Mordria Temple is enough.
- Return to the Mordria Temple elevator only after that sequence is finished.
- Look for Eir at the doorway by the elevator. Her presence is the documented starting point for the decisive encounter.
If Reunion has not appeared in your quest list, returning to the elevator repeatedly will not substitute for the missing story step. Retrace the preceding objectives until the game has acknowledged the restored heart, then speak with the progression at the elevator again.
Start Reunion at the Mordria Temple elevator
Once the heart has been restored and Reunion is active, the elevator does not begin from a generic interaction with the platform. The documented trigger is a carved control housing with a metal lever in the round elevator chamber.
- Travel to the Mordria Temple elevator and enter the round chamber.
- Find the carved control beside the pillar. It is the lever housing rather than the chain-hung platform itself.
- Use the game’s Examine action on the control.
- Allow the scene to begin. The platform rises with Eir.
- Confirm that the objective changes to “Ride the elevator and face the Fallen Dragon.”
- Continue through the subsequent objectives: “You rode the elevator to face the battle with Eir,” “Travel to the Fallen Dragon’s location,” and finally “Defeat the Fallen Dragon and save Rovall.”
The objective text is a useful diagnostic. If examining the lever produces the scene and the first objective update, the quest trigger has worked; any remaining travel is part of the intended route rather than a softlock.

If the elevator will not take you to the fight
The lever is not visible
Make sure you are in the round chamber and are looking beside the pillar for the carved control housing. The relevant interaction is not described as a normal door prompt or a direct interaction with the platform. Move around the pillar and look for the metal lever, then use Examine.
The lever is present but has no usable prompt
Recheck the prerequisite sequence before treating this as a bug. Reunion follows the restoration of the Fallen Dragon’s heart through Rovall’s Soul and Will. If that story state has not been completed, the elevator interaction may not be available even though you can reach the chamber.
Also check whether you are following the earlier Mountain Stronghold encounter. That survival event is not the elevator-based Reunion trigger, so its completion scene does not make the Mordria Temple lever available by itself.

Eir is missing
Eir’s position by the doorway is part of the documented start point. If she is not there, verify that the preceding story has advanced and that Reunion is active in the quest list. Do not assume that an empty elevator room means the battle has been skipped; it more often indicates that the required story stage has not been recognized.
The lever scene starts, but the objective does not update
Watch the entire elevator scene before moving away or attempting another interaction. The expected update is the instruction to ride the elevator and face the Fallen Dragon. If the scene completes without that text, record the exact objective currently shown and return to the lever after confirming the restored-heart sequence. Available walkthroughs do not identify a universal platform-specific repair for this state.
Reach the arena after the elevator ride
Arriving at the elevator landing is not the same as entering the boss arena. The summit platform triggers the waking scene and begins the fight.

- Step off the elevator into the dark stone hall.
- Find the broad staircase lined with statues.
- Climb the snowy steps rather than stopping at the landing.
- Continue until the Summit Ritual Grounds location banner appears.
- Step onto the platform. This triggers the waking scene and the decisive Fallen Dragon battle.
If you are waiting on the landing for an automatic boss transition, nothing is necessarily wrong. The documented trigger is reaching the summit platform, not merely completing the elevator ride.

After the heart has been restored, the earlier immortality condition should no longer apply. A long battle therefore does not, by itself, prove that you are fighting the wrong version of the dragon or that the heart-restoration step failed.

Walkthroughs agree that the dragon has vulnerable areas that do not scale in the same way as ordinary damage opportunities, and that its attacks make open-ground exposure dangerous. They do not agree on one mandatory target order. One guide emphasizes the exposed flesh around the hind legs and the back between the wings, while another points players toward the head and arm weak spots.

- Do not treat either target order as a required script.
- Attack the vulnerable area that is safely reachable during the opening you are seeing.
- Use the large rock or the arena rocks as cover when the dragon prepares its blue blast.
- Prioritize surviving the attack pattern over forcing a particular body-part sequence.
The differing recommendations are not evidence that one guide is necessarily describing a different quest. They reflect different tactical priorities. Your own encounter’s attack timing and available cover should determine which weak point you can reach without being caught in the next area attack.
When the health bar is empty but Reunion will not finish
The final segment is scripted beyond the visible health display. The fight does not necessarily conclude the moment the bar appears empty.
- Wait for a pawn to call, “The heart is exposed!”
- Drop from the dragon and get onto the ground.
- Run directly to the dragon’s chest.
- Touch the chest area to trigger the ending scene.
- After the scene, check the settlement quest log for “Completed: Reunion.”
Do not keep attacking indefinitely after the heart-exposed call. The chest interaction is the completion trigger described for this ending state. If the cue has not occurred, continue responding to the encounter rather than assuming that an apparently empty bar is the final signal.
A practical diagnostic route
Use this order to identify exactly where progression has stopped:
- No Reunion entry: finish the preceding Rovall sequence and restore the Fallen Dragon’s heart.
- Reunion active, no elevator start: return to Eir at Mordria Temple and examine the carved lever beside the pillar in the round chamber.
- Elevator completed, no boss: leave the landing, climb the statue-lined snowy stairs, and reach the Summit Ritual Grounds platform.
- Boss active, apparently immortal: confirm that the Soul-and-Will restoration was completed; then use cover and attack reachable vulnerable areas.
- Empty bar, no completion: wait for “The heart is exposed!”, drop down, and run to the chest.
- Quest log check: look for “Completed: Reunion” after the ending scene.
This sequence separates a missing prerequisite, an untriggered lever, an unfinished route, a combat misunderstanding, and the scripted final interaction. Checking them in order avoids returning to the elevator when the actual missing step is at the summit, or continuing to attack when the chest scene is waiting.
What is not established about a Reunion softlock
Available walkthroughs do not provide a confirmed universal fix for a quest state in which the restored-heart prerequisite is complete, Eir is present, the lever has been examined, and the summit trigger still fails. No official Capcom support article, patch note, or platform-specific remedy is identified for that exact condition.
Quick Recap
That limitation matters because a claimed reload sequence, platform-specific setting, or guaranteed workaround would go beyond the documented evidence. Before seeking help, note the current quest objective, whether the lever scene played, whether the Summit Ritual Grounds banner appeared, and whether the heart-exposed pawn cue occurred. Those details identify the failed trigger more precisely than the general description “the fight is stuck.”
