Spoilers for Shadow Generations: Shadow’s final boss fight is against Black Doom, first as Devil Doom and then as Neo Devil Doom. Use Doom Surf’s spin attack to send projectiles back, grapple between Morph Balls with Doom Morph to reach and strike the exposed eye, then activate Doom Wing for the aerial battle. In that last phase, keep collecting Rings: Doom Wing uses them while active.
How the final boss fight works
The encounter changes form and ability as it progresses: Doom Surf, Doom Morph, then Doom Wing. SEGA describes the showdown with Black Doom as a test of Shadow’s abilities. The official game manual explains the powers and their controls; a June 2026 gameplay review describes their use in the encounter.

Beat the Devil Doom phases
Doom Surf: return the projectiles
During the Doom Surf section, use the spin attack when Devil Doom sends projectiles toward Shadow. The attack can send them back toward the boss. The manual identifies the Step button as the spin-attack control during Doom Surf; the button shown in your game may differ by platform or remapping.

When the boss’s projectiles arrive, prioritize the spin attack rather than trying to reach the boss directly.

Doom Morph: grapple to the eye
Touch a Morph Ball to enter Doom Morph. Face another Morph Ball and hold the Homing Attack button to extend Shadow’s body and swing from it like a pendulum. Use the floating Morph Balls to build a path toward Devil Doom’s exposed eye, then attack when you can reach it.
Keep moving through the swings: dodge fireballs and leave platforms that are breaking or falling. If an attack fails to connect, look for the next opening or on-screen prompt rather than repeating it from the same position.

Beat Neo Devil Doom with Doom Wing
When Black Doom becomes Neo Devil Doom, activate Doom Wing for the aerial pursuit. You need 50 Rings to activate it, and Rings are consumed over time while the form is active. Collect Rings as they appear so the ability can stay active while you follow the target and attack.

- Press both Sidestep buttons together to activate Doom Wing.
- Hold Boost to glide through the air, and collect Rings during the pursuit.
- Follow the on-screen prompts for attacks and transitions.
The manual documents the Ring requirement and drain; the phase-by-phase review identifies Doom Wing as the ability used against Neo Devil Doom. Exact attack timing windows are not established by those sources, so rely on the game’s prompts and openings rather than a fixed timing estimate.

Controls and optional help
- Doom Surf: Boost accelerates across water; a Step button triggers the spin attack.
- Doom Morph: Touch a Morph Ball to transform; face one and hold Homing Attack to grapple and swing.
- Doom Wing: With 50 Rings, press both Sidestep buttons together. Rings drain while active; hold Boost to glide.
- Chaos Control: When the Chaos Gauge is full, activate it to stop time temporarily. SEGA’s manual says it can freeze enemies and gimmicks and reveal a light-trail route. Producer Takashi Iizuka has also described Chaos Control as a way to find platforms and new routes for attacking bosses.
Controls can vary with platform and remapping; use the button prompts displayed in your game. Chaos Control is a useful power to understand, but the documented final-boss sequence centers on Doom Surf, Doom Morph, and Doom Wing.

The manual says a Boss Gate opens after you clear the Challenge Acts for the relevant stage and collect its required Boss Gate Keys. A key is awarded for clearing all Challenge Acts for a given stage. Check the Stage List and the current objective in the Pause Menu to see which acts or requirements remain.
