Scan the Flight Drone MCU before attacking. Use the Control Beam to hit all three nodes around it; when its shield drops, shoot the MCU. Repeat the sequence once to defeat it.
How to defeat the Flight Drone MCU
- Scan the MCU before the fight. The encounter appears in the Volt Forge after the Storage-room passage, and the walkthrough places the scan before combat. Nintendo Life’s Volt Forge guide recommends scanning at that point.
- Clear nearby small Flight Drones if they are getting in the way. This is optional, but removing them can make it easier to aim at the nodes.
- Hit all three nodes around the MCU with the Control Beam. The walkthrough does not specify a node order.
- Shoot the MCU while its shield is down. The source does not name a particular weapon for this damage phase.
- Repeat the node-and-shoot sequence once. The walkthrough says to repeat the process to defeat the MCU.
Can you miss the Flight Drone MCU scan?
The walkthrough advises scanning before the battle, so do that before attacking. Available walkthrough information does not establish whether the scan is permanently missable, whether the encounter returns, or whether another scan opportunity becomes available later. A GameFAQs walkthrough also places the scan before the fight but does not resolve whether it can be recovered afterward.
Does an amiibo help with this fight?
Nintendo’s listing mentions Metroid Prime 4: Beyond series amiibo, and Nintendo Life’s general walkthrough hub says amiibo figures unlock bonus material in the game. Neither source connects an amiibo bonus to the Flight Drone MCU encounter, so there is no established amiibo-based tactic for this boss.
Where the fight appears
The Flight Drone MCU encounter is in Volt Forge, after the Storage-room passage. Nintendo lists a physical Nintendo Switch edition of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and says game behavior is supported on Nintendo Switch 2.
