The fight has two phases and a second health bar, so avoid spending every healing or burst option in the first half if you can manage it. In phase two, reset your spacing instead of chasing.
Where to find the Whiteclad Noble
The Whiteclad Noble is a main-path boss in Chapter 1, in Bamboo Grove at Marsh of White Mist. From the shrine, continue down the stairs to the next area; the encounter blocks the route toward Black Wind Cave. Gamepressure, PowerPyx, and Black Myth Guide describe this location and progression.
How to approach the fight
Use a patient loop: hold medium range, watch for the spear attack, evade laterally, then take a brief opening when the boss finishes its sequence. Gamepressure recommends medium range as a way to encourage more readable attacks, but this is a guide strategy rather than a guaranteed AI behavior. Staying extremely close can expose you to long combos, while backing far away may leave the boss approaching or waiting.
- Start at medium range. Keep enough room to see the Noble’s spear movement without retreating so far that you lose the opportunity to punish.
- Dodge the line of attack. When the Noble commits to a lunge or thrust, move sideways rather than trying to retreat straight back. Adjust timing and direction to the specific animation; one dodge pattern is not guaranteed to work against every move.
- Let the combo finish. The Noble can be difficult to stagger during longer sequences. Wait until the committed string is over, then land one or two hits and return to a defensive position.
- Account for the spear’s return. A thrown spear can come back after passing you. Avoid rushing in after dodging its outward travel; approach from the side only once the return is no longer a threat.
- Wait out the water attack. If the Noble sinks the spear, do not treat the animation as an opening. A delayed sweep can be followed by two shockwaves, so wait for the sequence to resolve before moving in.

What changes in phase two
Depleting the first health bar starts a second phase with another full bar. The encounter shifts toward broader spacing and more ranged pressure, according to the guides, so do not assume the first-phase rhythm will carry over unchanged.
Reset your position
When the Noble repositions, stop chasing and re-establish a distance where you can see the next attack. Look for a committed charge or other recovery window, evade, and punish briefly. The key is to make the boss come into a readable attack rather than running into spear range.

Keep resources for the second bar when practical
If you can reach phase two consistently without spending a transformation or most of your healing, preserve them for the harder spacing challenge. If phase one is the part stopping your progress, using an early burst to shorten it is a reasonable alternative. The right choice depends on your unlocked abilities and which phase is costing you more resources.
Optional spells, Spirit, and transformation
There is no single required setup. Gamepressure suggests the Wandering Wight Spirit for its passive damage reduction and strong Spirit attack, along with Immobilize to create an attack window. It recommends saving transformation for phase two. PowerPyx instead suggests using Immobilize and Guangzhi’s transformation early, then Immobilize again after the transition. These are different approaches, not evidence of one mandatory sequence.

- Save burst for phase two if you already handle the first bar reliably.
- Use burst in phase one if shortening that phase helps you reach the second with enough healing and control to continue.
- Use Immobilize for a deliberate window rather than as a reason to commit to a long string while the boss is otherwise active.

Why the fight may be going wrong
- You attack before the combo ends: The Noble can continue through long sequences. Prioritize dodging the full string, then take a short punish.
- You dodge backward into the lunge: The thrust is linear; try moving to the side as it commits.
- You rush after the spear throw: The weapon can return, so wait until its full travel is over before closing in.
- You enter the water attack too early: The spear-sink can lead into a delayed sweep and two shockwaves. Let those resolve first.
- You chase during phase two: Reposition and bait an attack instead of sprinting after the boss into its range.
What does the Whiteclad Noble drop?
Both Gamepressure and PowerPyx list Jade Fang, but their listed quantities for other rewards conflict: Gamepressure reports 1,049 EXP, 700 Will, and 1 Yarn, while PowerPyx reports 687 Will and 3 Yarn. Because the guides disagree, those amounts should not be treated as a verified current reward total. Check the in-game reward display for your version.
