Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe most reliable way to block Roblox on a home network is to use your router’s Parental Controls, Family, or Application Blocking feature and apply the rule to the child’s device. If your router cannot recognize Roblox, use router-level DNS filtering through a service such as NextDNS or OpenDNS Home.
Do not rely on blocking one port. Roblox says its client uses dynamically selected ports, so simplistic port rules can disrupt other applications without reliably blocking Roblox. A router block also will not stop access through cellular data, another Wi-Fi network, a VPN, alternate DNS, or a factory-reset router.

Choose the type of Roblox block you need
| Goal | Best approach | What it affects |
|---|---|---|
| Block Roblox on one device | Router device profile or device-level parental controls | Only the selected phone, tablet, computer, or console |
| Block Roblox for the whole home | Router application blocking or network-wide DNS filtering | Every device using that managed network |
| Block Roblox during homework or bedtime | Router schedule, DNS profile schedule, or device controls | Access during the selected hours |
| Block one Roblox experience | Roblox parental controls | A specific game rather than the entire platform |
| Restrict chat, friends, spending, or screen time | Roblox parental controls | Specific account features while Roblox remains available |
If you only want to restrict one child, avoid changing DNS globally unless your router supports separate device profiles. A global DNS change can block Roblox for parents and siblings too.
Before you start
Have the following ready:
- Your router’s brand and model.
- Administrator access to the router app or web interface.
- The child’s device connected to the home Wi-Fi, not cellular data.
- The name or hardware address the router uses to identify that device.
- Knowledge of whether the device uses the main Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi, a mesh satellite, or another access point.
Give the device a recognizable router name such as Child-iPad. Phones and tablets may use private or randomized Wi-Fi addresses, which can cause a device-based rule to stop matching. Check the router’s connected-device list after creating the rule.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Also check whether your router is operating as the main router or merely as an access point. The device providing DHCP and DNS is normally where network-wide filtering must be configured. If IPv4 and IPv6 are both active, make sure your filtering setup covers both paths.
Method 1: Use the router’s built-in app blocking
This is usually the least fragile option because the router, rather than a manually maintained domain list, identifies the service.
- Open the router’s administrator app or web interface.
- Go to Parental Controls, Family, Access Control, Application Blocking, or a similar menu.
- Select the child’s device or create a device profile.
- Search for Roblox under applications, games, or services.
- Choose Block, or create a schedule for the hours when Roblox should be unavailable.
- Save or apply the rule.
- Test both the Roblox app and the Roblox website.
Menu names and features vary by manufacturer, firmware, ISP, model, and subscription. Some routers offer only a general Pause Internet button. That will stop all online activity on the device, not just Roblox, so use it only if that is acceptable.

DNS filtering blocks domain lookups rather than inspecting every application connection. It is a useful fallback when the router lacks application controls, but it is not a complete application firewall.

NextDNS
NextDNS supports profiles, schedules, logs, custom denylisting, and app or game controls where available. Its free tier and paid limits and prices can change by country and date, so check the current official pricing page before subscribing.
- Create a NextDNS configuration or profile.
- Enable the Roblox or games/app control if your account offers one.
- If no Roblox rule is available, use DNS logs while launching Roblox to identify relevant domains, then add only confirmed Roblox-related domains to the denylist.
- Configure the router’s WAN or DHCP DNS settings with the DNS addresses supplied by NextDNS.
- Apply the profile to the whole network or, if supported, to the child’s device.
- Reconnect or restart the test device.
- Review the logs and test the app and website.
DNS filtering may fail if a device uses cached records, a direct IP address, another DNS resolver, DNS-over-HTTPS, a VPN, cellular data, or another Wi-Fi network. A DNS rule can also block supporting services without stopping every Roblox connection.
OpenDNS Home
OpenDNS Home is the relevant OpenDNS option when you need customizable filtering. It can require an account and network identification before custom rules work. OpenDNS recommends configuring household coverage at the router through its setup guide.
For standard OpenDNS, the listed DNS addresses are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. OpenDNS FamilyShield uses 208.67.222.123 and 208.67.220.123, but FamilyShield is preconfigured mainly for adult-content filtering; changing to it does not create a Roblox-specific block. Use OpenDNS Home’s customizable controls if you need to target Roblox or related domains.

- NIGHTHAWK WIFI 6 ROUTER FOR YOUR WHOLE HOME: Delivers fast, reliable WiFi across every room of your apartment or small home for streaming, gaming, video calls, and smart home devices, all running at the same time without slowing each other down.
- WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING INTERNET SERVICE: Pairs with your existing modem or gateway via ethernet. Compatible with most cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite providers. Some gateways and modem router combos may require bridge mode. No coax needed.
- SET UP AND MANAGE YOUR NETWORK WITH THE NIGHTHAWK APP: Download the free Nighthawk app on iOS or Android for guided setup. Manage WiFi, run speed tests, pause devices, and set up guest networks from anywhere. Active internet required.
- READY FOR THE DEVICES YOU ALREADY OWN: Your phones, laptops, and TVs work right out of the box. WiFi 6 delivers speeds up to 1.8 Gbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Backward compatible with WiFi 5 and earlier.
- COVERAGE IN EVERY ROOM: Covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. for up to 20 connected devices. Walls, floors, and interference can reduce range. Larger or multi-story homes may benefit from a NETGEAR Orbi mesh WiFi system.
Prefer a maintained Roblox or app rule when the provider supplies one. If you must add domains manually, use the provider’s logs rather than copying an unverified static list. Broad shared domains can break unrelated games, websites, or content-delivery services.
Why you should not block Roblox ports
Roblox’s support documentation says the client is not tied to one fixed outgoing port and that ports are selected dynamically. Roblox support also mentions UDP port range 49152–65535 in troubleshooting guidance, but that is not a recommended blocking recipe.
Do not block the entire range. It could disrupt unrelated applications and still may not prevent every Roblox connection path. Use application controls or DNS filtering instead. See Roblox’s firewall and router guidance for the networking details.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsMethod 3: Use device-level controls
For one child’s device, Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link, Microsoft Family Safety, console family settings, or managed-device restrictions may be more dependable than a household-wide router rule. They can continue working when the device leaves home, depending on the platform and account setup.

Removing Roblox and requiring administrator approval for reinstalling it can also help, but protect the device administrator account. Otherwise the app can simply be installed again.

A complete network block is unnecessary if your goal is to restrict certain experiences, chat, private servers, connections, spending, or screen time. Roblox’s first-party parental controls support these types of restrictions through a linked parent account. See Roblox’s parental controls FAQ for the current feature scope.
To block a specific Roblox game in the current interface:
- Open Settings.
- Select Parental Controls and choose the child’s account.
- Open Content restrictions.
- Select Blocked games.
- Select the + icon and search for the game.
- Select Block and confirm.
A blocked game may still appear in search results, and a restriction applied while the child is playing takes effect the next time they enter the game. This blocks an experience or feature; it does not disable Roblox’s network access altogether. Roblox also announced additional experience-level controls in 2025; interface availability can depend on account and region.
Best Value
- Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
- Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices

- MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
How to verify the block
- Turn off cellular data on the test phone or tablet.
- Confirm the device is connected to the intended home Wi-Fi.
- Close Roblox completely and restart the app.
- Open
roblox.comin a browser. - Launch an installed Roblox experience.
- Check the device’s DNS settings and the router or filtering provider’s logs.
- Test the main Wi-Fi and any guest network separately.
- If the old connection still works, restart or reconnect the device to clear cached DNS or session information.
Do not treat a blocked website as proof that the app is blocked. A DNS service may show a block page in the browser while the app continues using a cached session or a different connection path.
If Roblox still works
- Check cellular data. A router cannot block a phone using its mobile connection.
- Confirm the device profile. Private Wi-Fi addresses, a changed device identity, or a wrongly selected device can make the rule miss its target.
- Check guest Wi-Fi and mesh networks. The rule may apply only to the main network.
- Check DNS settings. The device may be manually using Google, Cloudflare, or another resolver.
- Check VPNs and encrypted DNS. DNS-over-HTTPS can bypass a router that only controls ordinary DNS requests.
- Review logs. If the website is blocked but the app is not, the provider may not recognize the app’s infrastructure.
- Restart Roblox and the device. Cached DNS results and active sessions can delay the visible effect.
- Check IPv6. An IPv4-only DNS setup may leave another route available.
- Identify the network controller. If the router is in bridge or access-point mode, configure the gateway that actually provides DHCP and DNS.
- Use device-level controls. They are the stronger choice when the child can change DNS, install a VPN, or leave the home network.
If a broad domain rule breaks unrelated services, remove the newest rule first and restore the narrowest confirmed entries. Keep a record of each change so you can reverse it.
How to make the block harder to bypass
- Set a strong router administrator password and do not reuse the Wi-Fi password.
- Disable remote administration unless you need it.
- Secure the router physically so the reset button cannot be used casually.
- Use device administrator restrictions to prevent DNS changes, VPN installation, or Roblox reinstallation where the platform supports those controls.
- Configure every relevant network, including guest Wi-Fi and additional access points.
- Combine router controls with Roblox account restrictions and supervision.
Router controls are household-network controls, not guaranteed device management. A determined user with cellular data, another Wi-Fi network, a VPN, alternate DNS, or administrator access may bypass them.
