Break bedrock in Creative mode
Switch to Creative mode, then aim at the bedrock block and punch it. Minecraft Help explains that blocks are instantly destroyed when punched in Creative mode: Minecraft Help: All Game Modes in Minecraft. No special tool is required.

Can you break bedrock in Survival?
Not by mining it normally. Community-documented Survival techniques exploit game bugs rather than intended mining mechanics. The Minecraft Wiki’s tutorial warns that bugs may be fixed without notice, and that its documented methods do not give you a collectible bedrock block: Tutorial: Breaking bedrock.
- Updates: A method may stop working when the game changes; the tutorial includes historical methods that have been patched, so its presence there does not confirm that a method works in a current release.
- Servers: Multiplayer servers may prohibit exploit use. Follow the server’s rules before attempting one.
- Block drops: The documented exploit methods do not let you collect the broken bedrock.
Why edition and version matter
Do not assume a bedrock-breaking trick works in both Java and Bedrock Edition. Their mechanics differ, including redstone behavior and block-update handling, as Microsoft Learn documents in its edition comparison. Any exploit instructions need to specify the edition and exact game version they target. The sources cited here do not establish which particular exploit works on your current patch.

Which approach should you use?
- You just need bedrock removed: Use Creative mode and punch the block.
- You are playing Survival: Ordinary mining will not break it. Treat any community workaround as a version-specific exploit, not a dependable feature.
- You are on a multiplayer server: Check its rules before trying an exploit.
